I recently redid my DIY incubator because it broke (Mother fell on it) and I used Silicone, Specifically Silicone 2*+ and am incubating eggs another neighbor gave me but whenever I open it with it running the incubator smells... Sour. Is this a bad thing? Should I redo my incubator? It shouldn't be a huge issue, just need everything to recure and get new eggs lol

That is what it smells like while it is curing. You need to let it finish curing and then let it air out really well.

It said it took 24 hours to cure, perhaps it needs more time to cure with the heat bulb?

Oh she's totally fine! The Incubator is basically all styrofoam so it probably helped her out, as did the towels/blankets around. Thank you for your concern though :)

Also as a note it also says it's not safe for baking or for aquariums. Perhaps that is another indicator It isn't good either?

Good to hear!

I try to limit my bourbon intake when doing certain jobs! Don't need to take a spill around the chickens, too much poop and mess on the ground in the coop anyway!

I bet! Thankfully we're not a drinking family, all she did was trip.

Also as a note It may be that I did need to let it cure for longer, so hopefully the eggs will survive. Should they? They said if they don't survive the chickens will always lay new ones while I take care of their chickens while they are gone.
