Question! So I have a older Silkie that doesn't lay, bought her like that, and I was wanting to do an experiment and put some eggs under her in hopes she will hatch them. Here's why, she spends all her time laying in the nest box that's in the pen. Anyone think it would work?

Is she actually BROODY though? Even if she spends alot of time in the

nest box, she still has to be broody before placing eggs under her.

From what I have seen from my birds, they are broody if they flatten out in the nest box like a pancake, don't move and turn into a lead brick when you go to try and pick them up, and purr and throw thier butt in the air when you reach under them.

If she doesn't do that, you might want to give her a fake egg or a few to see if it will help get her that way. It didn't take much for my silkies to go broody!

Not sure if she is broody or not BUT I will use that suggestion about putting an egg under her and seeing. I would really like to see her get put to some use since she isn't laying anymore!
