My Coop
Ok, so I am in the middle of planning a new chicken coop so that I can expand my flock, (yay!) Since my husband is a contractor, he always brings home extra supplies, and recently brought home 3 sheets of backboard (the concrete slabs you put under tile) Now, I was wondering that if sealed, if this would make a good chicken coop flooring? The wall will be white washed, and sealed plywood. Or, you it be better to just make the flooring plywood as well? Thanks for any tips!

If this is a walk in coop I would not use it. It will crack right away unless you have plywood under it.
If this is an elevated coop that only the chickens will ever go in then it may be ok. It would need sealed very well.
I think you would be better off just using plywood.

Exactly right, concrete backer board is good stuff but very brittle, would crack out from under you first time you walked in if you're using it like the subfloor.

I have same idea on backer but thought a thin coat of concrete over board would seal top sob under on raised coop
