I have discovered mites and fleas in my coop. I am ready to clean and treat with Elector PSP. However I use the deep litter method in the winter and currently have about a foot of bedding in the coop. Normally I use this bedding in the garden to ammend the soil. Can i still do this if the bedding is contaminated with fleas and mites? The chickens do get near the garden and our cats go in there as well. Just hate to waste the bedding if I don't have to. or is it better to burn it all? Thoughts?
I don't know if elector psp is harmful to cats. I use permethrin which I know is so cats are kept away until after it has dried. I would also dispose of the litter and put fresh litter down. I usually put poultry dust which usually has permethrin in it in my litter. Good luck...
