Using bluing

I'm showing my white silkies this year and I use bluing to get them whiter. However, I have a question about bluing: do you have to 'soak' your chickens in it for it to work? If so, for how long?

Use it very sparingly! Make the solution very weak. I always just rinsed with it and then followed with plain water, if you use enough shampoo that should get them fairly clean. You can also use the Purple shampoos for gray hair, but again use caution as it will leave a purple cast on the birds.
