Using cracked corn as scratch

I buy scratch grains from the grain store. My birds would leave every piece of corn there! They don't seem to like it much. They do like the other grains in there, and the white millet and BOSS I add to it (they didn't eat the corn long before I added the other things). Spoiled little girls!

My birds won't touch the scratch, so I feel it has been a waste of money...I'm now feeding it to the wild birds....

I mix mine with sunflower seeds and they eat the corn second, but they love it. Only once or twice a day for treat.

Sunflower Seeds here in Georgia are expensive...my birds might have to just enjoy free ranging with me watching over them with my shot-gun!

Thanks folks. I think I'll change over to a scratch with some grains in it. I appreciate all of your input.

I throw down about 2 cups (48 chickens) of scratch for the girls, when I let them out of their run into the barnyard in the afternoon. Just as a treat. When that is all gone, they move on into the back yard, where the bird feeder is, to eat anything the birds have knocked to the ground.
