Using DE

Okay, so I FINALLY found some DE, and it wasn't an easy task, believe that. I'm just not sure how to use it. The ENTIRE floor of my chickens coop is covered with red ants. Right now they are locked up in the house which is above the floor and not too happy about it! Do I just sprinkle it around the dirt, how much etc. Do I also put it in their food?

I would put at least 1 cup of DE on the floor of the coop, work it into the dirt a bit, and wait awhile to see if it works. You can put it in the chickens' feed if you want, but it's not necessary.
