Using Diatomaceous earth on a setting Hen??

I was wondering if anyone has used Diatomaceous earth on chickens, particularly a setting hen? And if so was there any effect on the eggs/chicks? I found some red mites on my hens and am trying to find a soultion that won't effect the eggs. Thanks

I don't think there will be a problem. I'm sure it will help her to get those mites off of her.

It is not harmful to chickens...try to keep it away from her eyes and nostrils.
