Popcorn and corn in general are "eat in moderation" foods. Our gut doesn't process them well and they can trigger diverticulosis/itis as you get older, which sucks.

Good to know. Is nixtamalized corn better?

SAY IT ISN'T SO! Popcorn is one of the major Food Groups!

I only recently tried the maple mustard. As much as I love maple syrup, I can't say as I'm a fan, but honey mustard is the best thing in the world for pretzel dipping!
Yeah I guess it very much depends on individual taste LOL but yessssssss pretzels are good in honey mustard.

Corn, in general, is a terrible food choice for diabetics. Very high in sugar. Which is why I love it so, hot and fresh on the cob, slathered in butter, dripping off my chin and down my elbows like a hog in slop! Loved. Not love. Past tense.

Except rarely. Maybe once or twice. In June.

wanna see my scar? :p

Popcorn specifically the hard husk part can get trapped in a polyp in your colon and cause a diveticulitis infection. if you have more than 3 in a 6 month period, they usually want to go in and snip it out. it's an arthroscopic procedure with a couple small incisions in most folks.

In my case, I also had valley fever, and lab work did not catch it. Normally it will settle in your lungs. In my case, it settled into the infected tissue in my gut and went to town. I had to have nearly 2 feet of my intestines removed as a result. Good thing we have so much guts in our meat sack.

JUst appalled to hear this, Azzie. Valley Fever is no joke, I lost a beautiful year-old Golden to its ravages. Lucky that popcorn laid you low and they found the Valley Fever infection, you're lucky to have survived, methinks! :hugs

My surgeon was SO mad due to the whole mess and not expecting things to be as complex as they were when he got in there. They had to send tissue samples to pathology to figure out what it was post-surgery. But yeah, I was hours from a really serious problem.

Always gotta be something bizarre and dramatic. 12 mos of flucanazole (diflucan) and no issues since. It's probably time to have another eval. Add it to the pile.
