We picked up our very first chicks earlier this week from our local Agway, 6 easter eggers (yeah!!!). I had placed an order with Meyer Hatchery in January but they were out of EE and we really wanted to have some. The girls are doing great and love the Premier Heat Plate. Our chicks from Meyers hatch tomorrow and when they arrive this week, they will be exactly 7 days younger than our EE. My current chicks are growing like weeds and I have already had to adjust the height of the heat plate. I am wondering if this is going to be an issue when the new chicks arrive? I'll have 15 chicks in all, if they all survive shipping (I am splitting the order with a friends and she will be taking 2 of the EE too). Will lowering one side and leaving the other higher be ok or is their size difference going to be a problem with the plate? I have the smaller heat plate listed for 20 chicks and will have 4 of the bigger EE and up to 11 new chicks.
