Using old barn for coop and run

Do you have barn cats to patrol the outside of the run? We support a feral colony and there isn't a rodent on the property. You're going to have a wonderful time designing this coop and double run...winters are going to be far easier for you.

I have never had any thing but dogs try to dig into a chicken coop. In fact the dogs were after a rabbit that was hiding under the coop.

BUT I shut all my chickens in at night! They don't spent the night outside in a wire pen.

My guineas are loose. Haven't lost one yet.

First, I need to clear up that there is only one chicken run. It is just enclosed on three sides and has an opening covered in hardware cloth on the fourth side.

Our neighbor has loads of cats that roam freely and we have one, but he is indoors at night. I plan on locking up the chickens at night. I won't let them stay out to attract predators. I would be worried about it anyway, but especially since I just adopted this chicken family, I feel especially charged with seeing after their security!
