Hi all! I've been using organic crumble for my 24 wk hens and my 10-12 wk old chicks. I just picked up some organic layer because the crumble was not available and I have a few questions:
1. Can the chicks eat the layer safely?
2. Do they need the small stones (can't remember what they are called) to digest the layer?
3. Does anyone have an opinion as to which form is better? Crumble vs Layer?

Thanks

Layers feed? I wouldn't advise it

Most feed will have grit in in but you may read the ingridients

3. Does anyone have an opinion as to which form is better? Crumble vs Layer?

Do you mean Crumble or Pellets? If so my birds don't seem to like Pellets as much

Thanks

Kevin,

Thanks for your reply. I'm new at this so pardon my ignorance and please help me to learn. Yes, the layers feed that I picked up is a pellet form. Why would you not advise it for the chicks? Is it because it is in pellet form or because if the formulation of the feed?
