Using OSB in coop floor

I am building a coop and purchased OSB for the floor as this is what the Lowes feller said to use. I will be painting it with tompsons water seal and the inside will have lenolum(sp). It will rest on top of 2x6 treated lumber and that lumber on block. My question is should I have opted for the treated plywood? How long can I expect this to last? Thanks!

no dont opt for treated plywood what you need at lowes is what they call advantech it is a osb product that is treated with a exterior glue and a wax and it will last forever at least 50 years according to the warrenty it is a great product and much cheaper than the treated plywood and a little more expensive then the regular osb

I don't like Thompson, good exterior paint, your floor is well off the ground so moisture won't be an immediate problem, linoleum is perfect, use plenty of adhesive and you should be fine. Plywood would be better and treated plywood the best....but we ALL tend to over-build. In my opinion the floor would last 10 years...good luck.

Hmmm.. I beleive I will return the OSB then and go with the plywood..Thats what I get for being a tight wad..lol

Particle Board...pieces of wood chips glued together....cheap stuff
Oriented Strand Board OSB

It's that chipped-wood board that is all glued together to look and act like plywood. I wish I had used plywood on the coop floor. OSB falls apart when it gets damp.
I was trying to save a few dollars too- have spent more than I saved on polyurethane.

I used 3/4" OSB flooring in the chicken house.

Before putting it down I gave it 2 coates of a waterproof sealer. Both sides and the edges too.

I like using OSB its straight and FLAT

I only use treated wood for ground contact applications.

Does it matter what sealer you use? I am afraid of it being toxic to chickens.
