In the past I have used propolis tincture from a local beekeeper to great effect in treating injuries on farm animals. Notably when my hens were attacked by a dog there was a huge gash in my silkie hen's hip. We applied the tincture directly to the wounds and let it dry while also putting a small amount in her water for her to take internally. It forms a slightly sticky but solid yet flexible 'band-aid' on the surface of the skin and falls off slowly as the wound heals. Our hen recovered without issue in a couple of weeks.
Also, slightly off topic, her sister was killed by the dog and we had no other chickens so we kept her with us for a few days so she wouldn't get depressed or lonely and thus loose health because of that.
I hope this info helps anyone who has injured or ill chickens.
Also, if anyone else has used prololis for either topical or internal treatment please post your experience!
