Using Windscreen Tarps to keep out weasels and raccoons?

Rain will take it down first...or at least show the 'gathering' spots.
I can tighten mine up enough to shed rain by having a slight ridge in the middle. Then it still retains snow very well. Generally snow does not weigh enough make a smaller tarp collapse around here, unless it a heavy cold rain comes on top before snow knocked off. The snow absorbs rain and prevents rain from shedding greatly increasing load on tarp.

I agree 1X.5 is stronger but I have a serious fear/phobia of snakes and I’m not fond of mice.

I think that wire with 1/2 inch by 1 inch holes should keep out the same things that 1/2 inch hardware cloth does. Are you comparing with 1/4 inch hardware cloth? (Also, I thought 1/2 inch hole was supposed to keep out even mice and any snake that isn't a tiny baby--am I wrong here?)
