USPS Regional Rate boxes??

Anyone plan on using these? I just got an email from ebay telling about these regional rate boxes. They are a little smaller than the flat rate boxes (which I don't use) but they seem like they'd work. It seems like you'd have to purchase and print the label online though, it shows N/A for post office pricing. These still use the 2-3 day shipping as priority, but apparently they're supposed to be cheaper for close shipments.

I figure I'll order some of the small boxes (10" x 7" x 4 3/4") just in case, if anything I can use them when I double box stuff.

So anyway, just curious

ETA again: It looks like they don't charge these by weight as long as they are under 15 pounds for the A box or 20 pounds for the B box? So that might make a difference.

I ordered some of each size.

They go by weight and distance, which something to go from NY to PA will be cheaper to go by weight and distance than by flat rate.

I don't think it goes by weight, I think it's just priced by the box used and the zone destination. On this page it says "Prices for the product are based on box used and zone" and "Postage is calculated based on the use of either the Priority Mail Regional Rate Box A or B and the appropriate zone"

Don't think they will be cheaper than shipping by weight.

Like the flat rate boxes , unless your shipping ROCKS most will cost you more.

Just checked. For me to ship a box that weights 2 pounds 15 ounces to CA it would be $12.14 priority, $10.50 flat rate medium box and $9.37 regional rate box A, which is almost the same size as the flat rate medium box. So you could save some money.

Guess the area ship to maybe........would need to check , they maybe cheaper, I was thinking they were like the flat rate, my bad.

They are similar to the flat rate, though the weight requirement is lower: maximum of 15# for the A boxes and 20# for the B boxes. I don't know anyone who could even FIT that much egg in those boxes, so they should be cheaper except for the reasons in my previous post

I checked on some prices for zip codes all over the country. Most of them were cheaper using the regional rate boxes over flat rate or priority mail. I've ordered 10 boxes of both the A and B sizes so I'll see how they do. Can't hurt
