Utah!

LOl, I agree, Michelle. give the poor girl some eggs=)

Cynthia... congrats on your son and hugs, too!! I'll be doing that in , gulp, 10 1/2 more years... my oldest turns 8 next year, sheesh!!

Sundance, here's one of the swaps...

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...ap-please-read-post-1-on-first-page-for-rules

you don't have to have a swap page, just be sure and read the rules on the first page, they're sticklers about following the rules...

A little off track but this has been buggin me. I got her from a friend that bought her at IFA. Is she a Barred Rock or is she a Dominigue? I dont know cause he was told he was told he was buying Black Australorp's. Her build is not quit right for a Barred. And she has a rose comb. What do you all think?

My BR has a single comb. Looks alot like these though----but there is something different through the body, I cannot say what it is...hmmm...never had Dominique's! Maybe somebody who is sure about this will answer!

My guess is Dominique. Very pretty :)

I also think that's a dominique.

I kind of want to move someplace tropical now. I wasn't ready for cold weather.

I was wandering around ebay yesterday, and people are selling barnyard mix eggs and getting $6-$10 a dozen! Maybe I should sell some of mine. With daddy being either a black copper marans or cream legbar (I don't think the polish is getting much action), that maybe would garner a better price, maybe?

Yes! Sell some eggs. I was looking for some.. I have decided to see what some barn yard mixes would do in my still air. I have a friend that is buying my two air forced air bators, bringing me some eggs right now..on her way.. ..she has a real blue she says that looks turquoise. I said, I take a couple of those, and some olive eggs..she said they aren't real dark, but oh well. See, I have my one bator, and I'm at it already. Don't want to buy any shipped though, well, I may want to, but I'm not going to.

I am excited already just to see how this works. I have used my old still air for lock down. Hope I get some of those blue to hatch, I would keep a girl out of that. Oh boy, I needed to be hatching something right now. Not a whole lot, just something. Sphinx, I am sure you would sell your eggs as fertile hatching eggs. People are looking for them.

On the barred rock question..IFA? lol...half barred rock, half dominique.

X2! She looks similar to mine, who is likely a BR/Dominique cross. They're sure sweet. I can see more "brown" blurring between the light and dark colors in mine, though. How old is your girl? (Sorry if you already said it and I missed it)

Oh boy, and the winter hatch-a-thon begins

Sphinx, I would try selling some eggs to see what you get. Couldn't hurt to try, right?

Well, more than half of the snow and ice we got yesterday has melted off. I'm a little disappointed, but I think the girls are pretty happy. A few of the younger ones were shivering this morning when I fed them, so I grabbed them for a minute to warm them up. They're all warmer-weather breeds. I think I may need to craft a cottage retreat for those ladies through the winter. And, them girls sure like to keep me guessing. I found three eggs today. I'm wondering if the storm kind of 'put the pressure' on them, if you'll excuse the bad pun. Kind of like how more women will have their babies around a storm because of the barometric pressure? Anyhow, two of the eggs were in the nest mound. And the third was laying right on the ground by their water bucket

Not sure who's it is. It's a brown egg with medium speckles. I've only ever seen one or two of them before, and that was a while ago. The mystery deepens.

Ok, I did it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/160910005202?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Cynthia, I'd give them to you for free because I am really curious to see what pops out of these eggs, and don't want to hatch any myself. In fact, that goes for any of you folks- if you want to hatch some, I'll give you some. I especially want to see the babies fathered by the legbar. I think the olive egger and one of the lavender ameraucana are only letting him near them. I'm not sure though. They're fairly discreet, for chickens.

Red, that is so odd with that egg. Maybe the weather does impact them.

I found another olive fart egg today. Also 8 grams. It was in a completely different hen house than my usual olive egger, so I don't know that it's her. Besides, that's twice I've gotten an olive egg and an olive fart, and both times they were in two different houses. They have their choice between the old house and the new, larger house. Over the past few days, everyone but the olive egger has switched to laying in the old house. I need to make another night trek and check out sleeping arrangements to see if they've shifted there as well.

Love your listing!!! Good job and love those eggs!!! Very pretty=) Let us know how it goes=)

Hattie, waiting to hear how your Silike is doing... poor girl, it is really hard when we get attached to them... I think I had enough of them when I was younger and lost enough of them that I try not to let myself get too attached, because you never know with chickens... but, still, I'm sad for you
