Yay for girls! I know my polish boys started turning red three weeks ago ish....and the Non NN is two weeks behind them, so I am thinking, not red yet, this is a good sign. But there are some wattles going on for sure, just super light pink. Please stay pink! Crossies

orps do take a lot longer to grow. mine is also small. i am hoping my young girls start to lay bigger eggs soon. my spr has only layed a few eggs since being broody. but still i am totally in love with them. the bo is so loveing, she is a little princes and wants to be held all the time, she also gets very jealous if i am holding one of the other girls.

Birdman, that's good to know about the BO. I kept wondering if I'd gotten a defective hatchery chick, or something. Not that it would have mattered. My BO's name is Princess Peach, and boy does she know she's the princess

Haha, that's funny, I always have people ask me if the green ones are green inside, lol!!

Lisa, nothing from my Delawares yet.... I'm thinking anytime.... what's up with all yours laying before mine?? What's your secret ingredient in their feed?? Mine are going to be big, I can tell, maybe almost as big as the BO, we'll see, they are heavier, maybe that's why they't not laying yet...

maybe its because people will often think of those flavorless white factory farm store eggs when they see a white egg. and some people just do not like the idea of green eggs. also you will notice that when you can find brown eggs in a store they will be a lot more expensive. plus for some reason people get the idea brown eggs are more healthy for you. or brown eggs will bring back childhood memories for many people too.

Good thoughts here Brad..I have had folks say, no green or blue eggs either. I have to ask why, and they don't know why. And, you sure are right about those brown eggs being expensive in the stores. I know that brown eggs always reminded me of my grandmother when I was seeing them in the stores. Then, I found out I could have chickens in my back yard...because the neighbors did! That's all she wrote!

Red..sea turtles have soft shells? Did not know that. See, you do learn something new on here, very often!

I started growing fodder two days ago, from the link that Daloorashens posted, it is coming along, I see sprouts this morning! Will post when it starts to grow. I am pretty excited about it. My chickens are being slow with the eggs right now, I have several that are skipping two and three days at a time and are not broody or molting. Is it just the cold/daylight? I have a light out there....i don't remember them really slowing down at all last season.

How is the fodder coming along? I'm still a little confused on how grow it. Is there a video that shows how? Yes i am a man and i don't like to read instructions.

So there is no dirt right?

Lol, that's funny... no dirt required, check out the thread... growing fodder for your chickens, pawtraitart started it.. you might have to go through a few pages, but there are some good pictures and explanations of how to do it... pretty easy, really.. I've done it on a small scale several times, will try it deeper in the winter for the birds=)
