Utah!

Awww, cute kitty! Glad you got some mousers. They are sooo handy! The one kitty that adopted my BF has been fantastic - he's been getting the rodents that are digging up his back lawn.

Such a cute love fest the birds and kitties, heh heh!

Red Congrats! I am so happy for you! And Sphinx, bummed for you about those trees. The ones on the southwest corner? They are big.

Ok so I candled my eggs and I am bummed out. The air cells looked so great. BUT here is the weird thing. There are clearly eggs from 4 hens in there. 4 big tan ones, same size, same matte exterior. 4 teeny tan ones, same size, same glossy sheen. 1 small one that is more brown, and 2 glossy white ones that look the same. So all four of the teeny tan ones are doing great. They are even squiggling around. The one small more brown one, looks like it started but possibility quit. None of the others (white ones and big ones) show any development at all. This worries me because the eggs that are doing great are the smallest eggs I have ever seen. I sure hope they make it! I am wondering if two hens are fertile, and two not. Why couldn't the big eggs be the ones that worked? :barnie Anyway I set them 6 days ago from now, so pretty sure those others are toast....but left them in a few days just to see. 4 eggs possible on day 6? Not good. :/

So I've been wanting to get a couple of barn cats to help control the mice that have moved in... Finally found a couple that were raised on a little farm around chickens etc and whose mother was supposedly a good mouser... We got them on Saturday and they are already catching mice!! I witnessed a successful hunt tonight while I was feeding the birds..

As I was leaving, I couldn't find the littlest one until....

Not the best picture cause I had to use my cell phone and a flashlight.. But he is snuggled up with the silkies in the corner of the pen..

That is sooo cute. The cat will also become flock protector

Ugh Sphinx, I'm sorry about your trees

I hate it when the city comes through and butchers the trees like that. Especially when they're older. I love huge, old trees.

Sundance, I'm glad to hear that the turkeys were okay! And thank goodness there are people who are vigilant about animals and the conditions they're being kept in.

The other neighbors didn't want to cause trouble and call animal control so they asked me to look into it. Then if I felt a violation occurred they would have called AC. This way no one gets hurt if the Turkeys were ok.

Sorry, hope the others keep going.

All this rain...The animals are all hiding and I have been bored. Found this video I took awhile back of my Buck playing with a ball. Thought you might like to watch.

Sorry Lisa, I know what you are feeling. :( So being a know it all again. If the smaller ones are making it..remember, lower temp. If it's a still air, keep it around 99 or 100. Not too much humidity! For now. :p

I have one egg left in my bator that went into lock down. Last I checked, the one under my blue splash is still moving real good! Hope it makes it, and this one, then mama will have two babies.

Cotton has gone broody! She laid her egg, and wouldn't get off of it, then when I got her off of the egg, put her by the food, she attacked my boots again..lol..and after eating, went back to the nest area. Clucking. Maybe the move to another place will bring her out of it. Unless, themadchicken wants a broody girl now, and has some eggs to stick under her. :p

Sundance, you are great on keeping up on these things..I'm glad that the turkeys are ok!
