Utah!

OMgoodness Cyndiloo I love those eggs. Those are crazy, they look like some sort of coconut or crazy thing not an egg! Where did he find them?

Birdguy NICE FBCM egg. !! They are becoming my favorite, they really are sweet and lay the best eggs. My Delaware I got from you has a lot of bloom on her egg, and it is a lot lighter too, kind of pinkish almost, if i scrub it really good it turns more tan lol! She lays every single day though, I have been amazed at what a good layer. She is still pretty small compared to the others, and her eggs are smaller, so I may try one more to see if I get a bigger one, I heard they are bigger usually. At first I thought about trading her out, but she is changing my mind :p She is pretty sweet. Pretty to look at too.

My GSL stopped laying :th my last one never stopped through winter. Mine has gone 3 days in a row no egg. Weird! That is the one chicken I thought would never quit on me. Alot have quit on me. My GL Polish Elvis has still not laid, and she is making me crazy. She is a HIGH maintenance chicken, she is always getting stuck somewhere, or chased, or squawking, or picking on my little black crested white sweetheart Gizmo. She is making everybody out there crazy too, I keep thinking if she starts laying that will help settle her down. But she is almost a year old, and she is getting crazier and crazier. Any suggestions? I think I am going to see if she can live with Maynard at my friend's house, maybe a smaller flock will help.

that pic is great cynthia...

Lisa I am giggling about your path to the coop....totally awesome!

He went out to fix it and just added on to it. You have seen my back yard..huge right? It goes all over the whole back yard. Giant maze. What a stinker! he just laughs and laughs, I try to get the mean voice going, "seriously go fix it! Please!!!!" he piled all the snow where the path should be to go straight out. Then built a snow cave under it. That child.....sheesh...I had to drag him in to dry his snow clothes out and it is still not fixed :rant

Anyone looking for a couple chicks? Bantam RIR rooster over a Buff Silkie hen . Bantam RIR rooster over a LF Australorp. Very friendly. Sorry about the no clothes, little boys hate wearing clothes. I can dress him in the morning and buy noon he is down to a diaper. Red looks like a rooster and black looks like a hen. Red will be Bantam size but black is already dwarfing the red so i would say black will be medium size.

I told ed your story and we had a good laugh. I told him he needed to get sno blower out and do that to our yard for the chickens., Now I let then out its a straight shot to the Gazebo for their dirt bath, They have tried going else where but the snow in my yard is so deep they get stuck so they don;t try to move round. Snow was so deep then we had the ice storm and it froze hard on top. The dogs were walking on the top chickens would not try, A snow maze seems like a good idea for them. Sorry Lisa I love your sons humor,

Sphinx, don't get too jealous. Remember that I've gone through the last several months of little to no eggs while everyone else's birds were starting to lay big, beautiful eggs. And I don't get all of those every day

I get such a random mix every day of how many eggs and who lays them. The most I have gotten in one day was six, which is a record for me. There are 16 or so girls out there, all of which are old enough to lay.

I think I may try putting my oldest Icelandic pullet in the garage again for a few days to see if she is laying. I know she hates being caged, but if those are her eggs I'm finding, I need to start collecting them for the test hatch.

This makes me giggle because my boy holding the Emu eggs was my little nudist as a toddler, our poor neighbors

They really are WEIRD and surprisingly heavy. In pictures they always look sparkly but it is 2 tone greens. I wish I could pass them around the class

He bought them from a boy about his age in West Haven. An hr drive for us. He loved talking "shop" with another teen into raising animals. This boy has raised Many and for Many years. Great quality eggs too!

love all the pictures. wishing you the best of luck with the emu eggs.baby emu are so cute. so are you going to keep them if they hatch?

Ha Ha he keeps teasing me that they would be our watch dogs. He would likely sell them. He will be leaving on his mission this summer and is heavily involved with FFA so he could always offer them to another youth for an project.

my egg production has jumped a lot lately, so much that i cut the lights down a lot because i am getting more than i need. my welsummer is laying nice dark eggs again. i could of sworn then went to a much lighter in color but they are back to being dark with spots :)

cute little babies. i do not think you have to worry about apologizing to us about your son not wearing a lot of clothes, i think all of us understand. i mean he is a kid, its what kids do at that age. heck i know a lot of adults that do it.... plus it cuts down on laundry so its a win win :gig i agree with you on the genders of the little chooks. :)

Congrats on the emu eggs, that's very exciting! How long do they take to hatch? Has he set them already? West Haven is very close to me.

Birdman, that marans egg is gorgeous. Too weird on that delaware egg.

Lisa, I'm also LOL at your son's sense of humor. Totally sounds like something I'd do.

Madchicken, I have had a few nudist children too.

I am jealous of all you folks getting eggs. My girls down here haven't laid any in months and the ones in Duchesne have only laid a few! We've been out half the day cleaning coops down here and digging the snow off the coops. What a freaking mess! I wanted to wait until some of the snow melted to redo their bedding, but the coops are starting to look so bedraggled that the boys and I are sucking it up and pulling out the old stuff to lay fresh. We do the deep litter method here, but there comes a point where the ick factor just gets too high for my taste!
