Utah!

Wow, sounds like you are doing a lot for your chickens. First, they do NOT need any more yogurt. If you have wormed them, then yes. Give them some once a day, for two days. That should be good. Too much yogurt can give them diarrhea and then crusties on their vents because of the diarrhea. Worming? If you have actually seen worms you can worm them. Not that many people do. I just went through this because I did see a worm in one of the droppings. If you see it, then the rest probably have them..which, they do anyway, but they may have more than they should. So I wormed them all. I started with Wazine first, then the harder stuff..but you have already wormed with the Ivermectin..which, can also cause diarrhea. They will have lose stools after medicating, and, because your giving yogurt. 2 week is right. If they were given the medication 2 weeks ago, then follow up with it at the 2 week point. You may want to chuck the eggs. Not everyone does, but I am doing the with drawl period before I eat egg again.
Yaay! I get to eat eggs again come this Sat. :)) Anyway, I would NOT give them something to clean them out..sounds like they've been pretty cleaned out already.

Just don't give them any thing more until you are done worming, and then, I would just let them be, let their digestive systems get back to normal. After you have given them their second dose of worming meds, and the yogurt for 2 days, I'll bet you will see things getting better within 5 days. Poop, should start looking like normal chicken poo. :)) You don't want to bombard their systems with too much at the same time. They need a break, especially after something like Ivermectin. Let them be, and see how they do. I wouldn't even put the vinegar in their water for now. Nice clean water every day. Hope this helps! Good luck.
If you hen really does have vent gleet, you would know it by the smell..pretty bad from the sounds of it. It's a fungus thing. I copied this from a guy that really knows his stuff. I always go to him if I have problems. That's how I learned about the worming method. He prefers buttermilk to yogurt. Thing is, you need to decide if it is really vent gleet. Go to one of his sites. dawg53 Do you have pictures? It's a pretty nasty looking thing all right!

Here is a statement from dawg53:

I would treat the whole flock. Vent gleet can be contagious. It is bad bacteria expelled in fecal matter which could be picked up by another chicken. This is why probiotics should be given to get the gut bacteria back in balance. I recommend buttermilk mixed in feed rather than yogurt. You can also use nystatin to treat vent gleet rather than copper sulfate. I havnt found anything regarding withdrawal for copper sulfate, but I suspect there is a withdrawal period....same with nystatin. You might want to try googling withdrawal times for either product. You might have better luck than I did. I dont have it in any of my references neither. Sorry.

Another thing..I wouldn't be treating for the gleet and worms at the same time! If your chicken does have gleet, I would treat that. You have wormed them once, my guess, is that they are fine. If they do have gleet, it needs to be treated. Do you have pictures? I am going to send a picture, which my guess again is, you've already seen some..

Here is one picture, some of the others were pretty bad! This is considered a mild case.
Cynthia, thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate it. I have not seen any worms in their stool, I used the Ivermectin thinking they had mites. I will follow your suggestion and leave them be now. I am very certain they had vent gleet but it took me a while to come to that conclusion. Let's say I took a little detour until I found out what is really going on. It looked just like in the pictures. Crusty white under their vents and into the vents. Oh my. And it would not come off after soaking so I resulted to yogurt applications. Figured it couldn't harm if it went in from behind. It felt safer than the fungal creme. Their vents look great now, no more swelling and the red crusts are completely gone from one of the girls and coming off on the other. It has really stressed me out because I do like those girls a lot. And when we lost our runt, I felt I had not done all I could to save her. Well, she died before I even knew something was wrong. The only reason I saw it on the others was because we mucked out the coop thinking there were mites and I saw that one had a dirty and bloody fluff area when she turned her back to me. That really scared me. I don't do blood LOL Again, thank you for taking the time to reply and calm my nerves a bit. I can do this

Agreger, another thing you can try in the future if you think your flock has worms---cayenne pepper. Chickens have no heat receptors, mine eat it right up...cleans their gut, no worms. You add enough to make a days worth of feed rusty colored, once a month or every other month, works really well and does not affect eggs. It is all natural, what my grandpa used for years, I like it :) you can search on here there is info you can read up on about it. And the Apple cider vinegar with the mother in it, in their water regularly, helps prevent them from getting gleet (not cure it, just a good preventative).

Bad news, one of the baby button quail died this morning, the dark one, I just think it was never quite right after getting cold. The yellow one is all alone, so I am working on finding another baby buddy. So sad!

Well you know you are taking it home if it is a hen. I am surprised by the FBCM I really thought I had a hen but not anymore...guess I will just wait and see if they all crow.
The little IFA chicks are supposed to be hens but you never know.

That Black Americana is Beautiful, if I didn't have my Blue Wheaton I would take him.

I was finally able to get some pictures of my Seramas. I am in love. They are so pretty.

This is a black speckled girl much prettier in person

This is my favorite. I am told she is a buff frizzle but she almost look blue with a buff tipping on her feathers. Soooo pretty

This is a partridge frizzle. Don't you love the way their wings are held down. These birds are so little 8 to 10 oz

This is the rooster. such a doll

Just put 5 FBCM (the ones I got from Lisa) into lockdown. Let the hatching begin! I think I might sell whatever hatches out of these so I don't get too overrun with chicks (yeah, right, like THAT'S not going to happen!). I have something like 50 eggs in the 'Baylor with about 2.5 dozen more on the way. I swear I'll stop after these. Except for the BLRWs. And maybe a few Isbars and Cream Legbars from my own girl. And maybe a few meow Welsummers. Isn't someone else here hatching Welsummers? I'm not having the best luck with the shipped Welsummer eggs so far, but Joel is hopeful on those.

Gimpy seems to be doing fine out in the coop, legs or no legs. Guess the boys are right and there's no reason to put her down. I'm going to grab some Conan tonight at work and wrap those stumps so she doesn't get open sores on them from too much pressure. I like the neoprene leggings someone suggested, but I don't think I'm talented enough to make them.
