Ok I have some chicken geekiness for ya. I keep stats on my chickens, it is totally dorky I know, but I find it interesting, so I do it i think it is my financial analyst/auditing background, it brings out the need for information in me lol!

So this week I got 113 eggs!. I think they are done for the day, this is the first week I have gotten over 100! But here are the layer stats:

7 eggs/week: Egg size

Gizmo (6 mo old Polish) ? Not laying yet
Elvis (1 + yr old Polish) ? I will never know, never laid an egg and this one is going to be rehomed..)

Fun info! Now I have to decide who stays and goes for the next laying season. I have a couple older gals that are leaving, but I love all the others too much to part with them haha

If you think i am weird, and a little crazy for keeping track, you are very very smart I thought the info might be interesting to any newbies on here trying to decide on which breeds they want

I agree Red. If anything, the stress from wondering is bad for you. You go in, they tell you are fine, it alleviates worry, that is a good thing. OR they figure out something is wrong, and you went in early enough to get it fixed before it becomes a worse thing. Either way, it is a good thing! Your chickens would want you to go....~!!

Oh goodness we are having fun at my house. We are playing "Fantasy Chicken". We each took turns picking names from the stat list, we each get 7 chickens, then whoever's "Team" lays 25 eggs first wins. The winner gets a baconator from Wendy's Ha ha we are such idiots. But we don't even care lol

In other news, the snow finished melting today in my backyard. The flooding of the crawl space is almost over, only one sump pump is running continuously instead of two or three.....happy day. We might be able to walk on the grass this week, it has been a lake.!

Phoenix, I like that coop, it would be perfect! Doughie, yours is coming along nicely, cannot wait to see the finished project!

Lisa, I have to tell my daughter Mindi..that there is a chicken out there named..Mindy. We almost named her Melinda..said we would call her Mindy. Then decided, that if we are going to call her that, then we should just go ahead and name her that, but spell it a bit different. This was back in the 70's, before..Mork and Mindy.

Red...please, this is not something you want to think will go away. If it's been going on for a while, don't be one of those that ends up saying..wish I had gone sooner. If you are just low on iron or something simple like that, then it's a very simple fix. But, if you don't get your iron up, it could be a bad thing..you never know..it could just be stress..are you eating? This is your 10th mother speaking, eat good foods! You probably have more than 10 moms..I am thinking of all of us on here wanting you to get to the dr. Just do it. Pick that phone up tomorrow morning! We love you lady bug!

Oh my gosh, talk about scary. So I just got up from bed to answer the door (been trying to catch up on rest this weekend) It was our buddy Jed on here, who lives close to me. I started talking to him, then felt really dizzy and sick, so I sat down on the chair behind me. I passed out! I think I was out for a minute, then woke up and he was still standing there. I asked if I'd fallen asleep and he said yes. I'm so glad it was Jed and not some stranger!

I've gotten a head rush before from jumping up out of bed to do something like answer the door, but it has never been anywhere near that bad! When I woke back up, it sounded like my and Jed's voices were in a tin can and coming from far away. Felt so absolutely sick. I think I am going to lay down for a while yet and give my body a chance to recover. I don't know what's going on.

Is your Iron ok? I have anemia, and when my iron gets really low that happens to me...just a thought. Hope you feel better soon.

Cynthia, Mindi is such a cute name, I like It I sold most of my "happy days" chickens, remember those? i still have Potsie and Laverne though. It is fun giving them names, we are trying to think of a theme for the new 2013 chicks. We were thinking about "all in the family" but I do not know who I would call meathead....lol

Lol, I love this....we are two in the same...I keep track of each of my girls #'s (I am a banker so I am all about the numbers too) then on top of that I even take pictures of each of my hens and catalog it with the egg they are laying for me. My husband thinks I am a nut job I swear-but he loves me anyways

. Yesterday I spent four hours taking pictures of my 24 new chicks at every angle and each of their wing spans...so I can see if the whole wing sexing holds any credibility...hahahaha the fun of chickens. Here I have 24 chicks already, and I have been crusin the web all day looking for some blue and splash jersey giants...then of course I find four other breeds/color variations I can't live without . Good thing I have a husband who is handy...he's already building me another coop as we speak...it's my third

...honestly I feel like I may require a chicken intervention soon! Hahaha

BUT WOW 113 EGGS! You go girl!
