Utah!

Speaking of cute pictures...I have to share a hundred few of my Houdan. She is stinking adorable.

She has a "Sargent Carter" haircut. And poopy feet. She looks like in the last pic, she is saying "Sorry I messed up your paper mom!" lol

I must also note, the Houdans personalities so far have been so laid back. I can carry her around the house and she just chills out on my arm. I am really liking these, in our new project we are talking about making a separate pen/coop for the ornamentals, I may dare to get a Houdan rooster...I am getting brave

I hope so too! I kept two of them, and bought them as sexed females, if the hatchery messes this up and this is a boy I will be soooo sad. That would be my luck though. She is short and fat and my little buddy :) Don't ya just want to squeeze her? :love

So Gary, I think I read this....when the dad is the BR, and the mom is the RIR, the girl chicks will be black sex links, and be black but not barred, then they get the red around the neck as they get older.....so would the opposite be true, if the mom was barred, then the boy offspring would be black, the girls would be red? I might have this all wrong, but I was thinking using the barred in a sex link cross created Black babies not barred...Daloorashens, where are you, you know this stuff....you gotta help us figure this one out. I can't keep it all straight :p

Hey Brad, what's up in your part of the world? I am getting ready to plant some herbs in my planters I bought. This is going to be my firs time doing this in a pot. Hope they grow. :/

What do you do with goats? Can you eat them?

....but really what do you do with them?
More people eat goat in the world than eat beef!! We milk them and I have a wether from last year that we are going to butcher this fall for meat.. Hopefully we will have enough milk this year that we can try cheese and soap making.. We did make ice cream once last year and it was out of this world!!

Im from Ogden Utah!! Yay! Go Utah :)
Also, is there anyone on this forum who would be willing to sell their broody hen? I am in desperate need for one.. my hen is laying however she doesn't want to sit on her eggs. I don't have an incubator because my intent was to have her hatch them herself... Anyone??

things here are normal. my one sister with the land has to move back close, the guy that they were planing to buy the land from that they are renting right now had to sell sooner than they thought and they do not have the money so they are moving back so all my new chicken projects are on hold for now, i wanted to do meat chickens, turkeys and a few other projects. but my sis will buy a house with animal rights one of these days as she needs a place for her horses and she wants space, most likely out in tooele somewhere. right now she is looking for a cheap place to stash her horses, anyone know if wheeler farm rents out space? also i think i need to wait until fall at least for a cream legbar :( gotta build my new run and get a few things sorted before i add to my flock.

Corvidae, just in case you missed it, I do want to try and hook up with me tomorrow for that rooster? Are you bringing back others to process? If so, do you want me to bring the white one so you have another chicken to eat?

Lisa, that Houdan is looking awfully cute! I love it.

Cyndiloo, that looks awfully "boy-ly" as my kids would say.

Sphinx, looks like I somehow missed a bunch of posts, probably because I'm on the iPhone. I will be back in town by around 2 pm, possibly earlier, but I have to take Joel to piano. However, Zach will be home, so anytime after2 would work fine. I'm not bringing any down to process--we have the Wyandotte roosters under control and those were the most prolific. The rest can wait for a while, so don't bring the white one!
