Awww crap, don't tell me that. It's a double-edged sword for me. Good to get chick food. Bad to get chicks.

Does anyone have experience growing garlic? I want to grow my own but I'm wondering what the result would be if I started it now?
Do I have to wait until fall?
You can start garlic now. I make homemade salsa so i grow all my own ingredients. I actual grow garlic in my flower beds. I doesn't take up much room, about like a tulip bulb. And you don't have to worry about tilling it up or making an extra row just for it. i did try the jumbo garlic for the first time last year and had good results. just keep in mind garlic is a bulb and will rot if you give it to much water and the less water you give it the stronger the flavor. When it starts to get a flower stem trim the stem off. The bulb will give more energy into growing the flower then growing bigger.

Thank you, I LOVE the idea of planting in the flower beds! I appreciate the advice, I do tend to over water

I ordered some of the Spanish Roja that Casa suggested; I will probably get some more locally as well. I'm thrilled that I can grow it in spring.
Do you do your cilantro in a container?

Bird-Man, fun for sure but I'm so tired and sore by the end of the day...lol. Looking forward to everything being done so I can have some 'sit back and enjoy' time.

Well, went out to Cal Ranch tonight to get a small bag of chick crumbles. Picked up a little bag of wildflower seeds, too. And while I was there, I went and looked at the chicks, of course. I checked on the bantams and found a couple with bad pasty bum, so I took a leaf out of Cynthia's book and cleaned them off. I checked with a couple of employees first, though, then grabbed a sanitized wipe. I felt bad because I'm sure it hurt like crazy for the first chick. This little one's bum was so bad, it was swollen and bleeding. I had to go up to the bathroom and get some tp with water on it to continue. Tried to help kind of massage the tummy, too. I got some poo out, but I'm worried that that chick may not make it

And of course, they had ducklings, so I had to take the obligatory duck picture to tease my BF.

Thanks Rykel... it is awesome but a lot of work to keep up on. I hate weeds and junk... so the work never stops. We (hubby and I) just took it over from a family member who couldn't handle it and couldn't pay to keep it. It's a family house my husband bought for his parents 30 years ago. Unfortunately, their idea of 'using the land' and mine are way different. Now, it's all being utilized and is really coming along!!! Before it was just wasteland.
