Utah!

Casa I'm so jealous your NN's are laying.  The one I got from you is what almost 5 months old?  I have to be doing something wrong with her.  And I have to agree with you, she is a tank, she is huge.  And is my biggest chicken too.  Maybe I need to go dig through the Ivy on the side yard, she's always in there during the hot part of the day, unless I kick them out, and push them up into the shade and close the gate.

My girl that started laying 5 days ago was born 3/1, the black one you have was born 4/15 so she has a little longer. She would be about 15 weeks? Hang in there, won't be too long! So funny she is already a tank. She was a big chick.

Well....one of the new girls finally laid yesterday.

I'm certain it was one of the Wheatens......tiny green egg no bigger than a quail egg.

Pretty sure the Houdan ain't gonna have one like that!

Yay for new eggers!

I totally thought she was born March 15th, she is huge. I mean huge. She makes everyone out there look like they are Bantams. And she has to weight at least 8 plus pounds. I picked her up the other day after holding the RIR, and I couldn't believe how heavy she is.

Okay, here is my stupid question of the day....How do I cut the feathers away from the Houdan's eyes. I'm so sick of my Houdan crying for her friends all day long. I let everyone out this morning to free range about 7:30am, and she was still in the coop crying, figured I would pull her out of the coop, and just stuck her down in the run, thinking she would go out. Nope at 9:30 she is still out there screaming her head off, so I went and grabbed her and took her out to were everyone else was. She is getting louder and louder everyday, and I don't want someone calling thinking she is a rooster. So I'm hoping if I cut her feathers, she might not scream all day long. As for the Silkies, they can't see either, but they are not as stupid as this bird, They get around just fine. But can I trim the Silkies up as well?

And I'm still looking for a home for the one Silkie Roo, I'm pretty sure Brian is taking the other one when he moves in a week.

I gave my Houdan a haircut. I just took the scissors and went to town. She was much happier afterwards.

My NN I have right now isn't very big. I remember my white one was huge! Never did get an egg from her..the winter got her first. She was pretty..but my goodness that bird must have weighed 8lbs!
My ~ Kitten ~ has Auracauna in her. She has the cutest whiskers like a cat..so, Kitten is her name. She isn't going to be near the size as the white girl. She has the red body, so guessing she has RIR in her..and I'm guessing she will be a good layer too.

Brian is taking my two girls I had up for sale. :)

Awesome! let us know how you like them.

Cynthia, glad your girls are going with Brian :) How old is your NN you have now? What Color, I cannot remember? I have three that all look the same Orange with black tips on wings and tail. Next year I hope to get a black and White :) Maybe my NN eggs with the Sg roo will make white NN babies? You never know :p I hope I can quit messing up my hatch....

Silly good luck with that haircut!

I'm excited to have those girls! They always catch my eye when I'm over at your place Cynthia. I am only getting chickens from a few people on here, I want to do it right and don't want anymore sick chickens. I know you all take great care of your flocks.

Desert, ill let you knkw when im all moved in and ready to buy some of your chicks from you. It should be no longer then a week after the first.
