Utah!

New question of the day. Will three hens be happy or should I start looking for a new girl to take the place of Daisy Duke? I know they are flocking birds and the more the merrier, but our coop can really only handle four birds. My hubby thinks three is fine; less feed, less poop, more room for them at night on the roost.

Hello Shmeal,

I would never introduce only one hen into the established flock. Your husband is right. Three hens should be very happy but if you want to add new hens then get two hens that already know each other and get along. If you've never combined flocks before, please read up or ask. It can get messy real fast if done wrong. Good Luck

oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy. Non-chicken related topic here but I have to share. My DH came home with a surprise last night :

He is so cute! No name yet--8 weeks old, he is 75 percent Pomeranian, 25 percent Pekingese. We love him, he is really sweet, and slept in his own bed without whining last night, i was more than surprised. yay!
He is so adorable. I just love puppies. I wish they stayed little like that forever!

oh now that is cute....The monster says Isaac would be a perfect name.

that puppy is so cute lisa! so i walked outside to get the mail today and was attacked by a big german sheppard (not that the breed matters, i am just saying so you know the size), it tried to get me as i walked out the door barking and growling and trying to bite me. i quickly got inside and it sat at my screen door trying to get in. i pulled out a bat that i keep handy and as soon as it saw i mean business it started to back off and i chased it down the street. my yard is fully fenced so it could not get my girls. but it was scary. i keep hearing about dog attacks in utah. not sure why but there sure are more attacks lately

Does anyone have experience with both the Genesis 1588 and Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced EX? I am trying to decide between them and was wondering if I would see any appreciable difference in hatching success between the two incubators.

If you find out let me know. I really want to buy an incubator, and I want something that is user friendly for a beginner.

Quote: Silly, user friendly incubators are called Silkies and Bantams!

Thanks Gary, I have 2 Silkies that are 3 months old, 1 Cochin Bantam Mix, 5 months old, and an almost 4 month old Japanese Bantam, plus a BO. I don't think they will be helping me out in the near future. I will be lucky if anyone here starts laying eggs. :D

I'm sure next summer I will be screaming that I have 6 girls wanting chicks. lol

Brian..huge moth. Where was that? Eeek. I've seen the butterfly moths..they are big..and kind of pretty.

Lisa! Cute baby! Can't wait to hear what name you come up with. I think it's great that your DH came home with a surprise like that. Were you guys talking about getting a lap dog? :p Another dog?

I've only had experience with the 1588, love them. Not sure about the Oct. 20. ?
