Sphinx, i am interested in your fbcm eggs. Only looking for a couple to give to Spike my broody hen. Every time i buy a fbcm chick it turns into a roo. i do have a couple dark layers but not the dark chocolate eggs.
Me on the other hand couldn't sleep I had to keep getting up to check the temp on the incubator. Man, I think its going to be a long 21 days, I know I will be getting up at night to make sure it does spike, once the eggs are in there. I should have put it in my room on my night stand. I have it upstairs in my loft right next to the brooder, which I NEVER put away last year. It has been waiting patiently for me to come over to the hatching hobby…. Anyways.,,,
The incubator has been at 100.2 with 14% humidity for almost 14 hours straight now, is this good? Gary is going to come to me after 1pm today. So excited. He's going to see if he can tell me who the lucky Mister is outside. GOOD LUCK GARY! I seriously swear there is no Rooster outside, and I'm really dumbfounded that I have fertile eggs.
Ace, love your babies..did you post them on the NYD thread..I must have missed them. So many folks are posting now. I love love your blue eggs. That middle photo is just darling!
Ace, LOVE your chicks! They are so adorable! So neither of the OE hatched that I gave you?
Madchicken, I'll start saving FBCM eggs for you- my hens have been really laying well, so I'll have a bunch pretty quickly. I'll be in SLC on Satuday.
Silly, I'd bump the temp up so it's 100.5. Also, although I'm a fan of dry incubation, I do think 14% is too low- I'd try to get it up to about 35% or so.
Yesterday was crazy good day for eggs- I got FOURTEEN eggs. Of course, that's out of 23 hens, so not fabulous, but pretty darn awesome, if I do say so myself.
Thanks to Gary for coming over with some hopefully Fertile eggs. He doesn't think I have a rooster, and I didn't think I did either. Plus after looking at one cracked open, he doesn't think they are all too fertile either. So hopefully I get some of his hatch, since my 5 year old is on cloud nine about hatching some eggs.
I can add some water to the tubes, I will put a little in each tube. I can bring it up. There is no water in their right now since Lisa and Cynthia said to take it out. Even the cheat sheet said not to mess with water until day 18. So… I will see how the temp stays today, and maybe I will set them tomorrow, since I had to adjust for my house getting warmer upstairs today. So hopefully it regulates better tomorrow, I also thought about maybe moving it into my storage room, but I'm worried about the cat in there but that room stays the most constant temp. Hmmm…. I might have to think about that.
