Utah!

Tankgirl...Give her a little bit and see if she goes back. If not then put the golf balls down were she is but put them a couple feet from her so she can see them. If she goes back over and sets on them then yes she is broody, if not she might not feel good. I just moved a broody to a different coop with some eggs last night. At first she was just mad and didn't move at all. I checked back on her a couple hours latter and she had found the eggs and was back to setting like a good girl. I love broody's!

That is a great idea and a brilliant suggestion! I will defiantly do that tomorrow!

Lisa did you just get the Americana's? I had the hardest time the other day when I went to IFA, I wanted to take a few home too, Specially a GLW or SLW. But I walked quickly out, Still keep thinking about them.

Hahaha I love Momo

I'm hoping to have some more Icelandic eggs for you in a couple of weeks here, Gary. If you still have a broody by then.

Tankgirl, is your hen just staring like she's "in the zone"? if so, she may be getting broody. If she's acting tired all the time or keeping her eyes closed, she may be feeling unwell. One of my girls does the blank stare thing for a few days while setting. I think she's trying to will the eggs to develop, haha. When my turkey was broody, she was nasty toward me, but when my mom was around her, she acted like she didn't even notice. No noises or anything.

Are you able to get a picture or two of your hen?

Lisa, it's a long shot, but I'm going to say you got a Silkie.

Silly, sometimes the big ones are girls, so don't give up yet. My blue Wyandotte was huge (still is) and she is either a hen or the world's most talented rooster

Nope there were more :D
No Silkies, Wyandottes, Orps....

Oh hey! I forgot to tell you. My chickens anonymous announcement....I am down to 40 birds! (I had nearly 100 last summer...) So I am doing really good getting ready for babies. Haha ! I am feeling pretty good I sold some started pullets this week, and hens, and I actually parted with more chicks than I thought I would. I feel like I am gaining some sort of self control over my addictions. Sort of....:/

I'm decreasing my flock, too. It's mostly the newer pullets that I'm not as attached to that I'm rehoming. I only ever wanted twelve chickens, max, and now that I have close to thirty, it's far too many. I would like to get down to twenty for now, and then fifteen.
