Utah!

Also, I thought you'd all like this... My wife, baby, and I ran the "Predator vs. Prey" 5 K to support the College of Natural Resources at Utah State Saturday morning. My wife and I were the prey (chickens, of course), and our baby was the predator (the suit is a little bear suit).

Winco? :D

Who are you getting your BO from? I have a 3 month old pullet. Or close to that age. Would have to look her up. She's pretty, DH even said something about her today. "That's a pretty one." lol... I let her and a couple of more pullets out to free range for the first time today. They were having a time getting used to being bossed around, but figured out how to avoid the big bullies. The bullies didn't peck, just pushed, and you would have thought they were being killed. The sounds stopped about an hr. later. They just hurried away as one of the older girls came around.

What a great looking family. Nice to see you Ace. :) Cute hats..bear costume too. All in pink. The Pink Bear..what a doll.

Cynthia...dont you just love watching the new girls and boys meet the flock. The best is when a LF youngster thinks a 2 yr old bantam is lower then it. Those little screams of terror...

Cynthia I was thinking of getting some BO from youcluckingatme for the hatch along. I need to see if he can get them to Wendy to bring me on Saturday, that is way I said I could bring some to you if you wanted to meet in Orem. I can bring them down if you wanted some from him too. If you want I would split 1/2 BO and 1/2 whatever you want if you only want to do a dozen, and we can get a mix. I wouldn't mind another RIR, my girl is a year now. So by the time the new one is laying the other will be about 20 months old.

Oh, BO's eggs. Noo..not wanting more of those. And I have a RIR. Maybe I'll just stick with what is coming. Got a pm from one of the gals that I am buying eggs from and she says that there will be a lot blue eggs...:p. And the other gal is sending some EE eggs. So I am good with color. I'll keep this BO for a while. Not sure I will keep her long, but she is cute. Fluffy butt already.
Thanks anyway, See you on the HAL. :)

Ace, I love love love your story, with all the details. It is so interesting with the mixing of the breeds, and what you get! I thought it was really interesting how your twins, look so similar to SBELS, white with black specks! Yet have lots of other genes mixed in. AND I super love the name Rufio. Haha :D Good one!
Now here I am done hatching (or proclaiming to have been done...) and you are all hatching. This is going to be a true test of my willpower to keep that bator put up. My primary reason, is I love all my girls I have left after the Spring selling of dud layers and older gals....and I can't bear to part with anymore to make room for babies. I want to be able to pick a couple pullets up at chickenstock, so I am going to have to be very strong to resist y'all tempting me with chick pictures. Why must I love my chickens so?!?! I want them to have room to be happy, so I really need to work on the numbers so they don't get as crowded as last summer!

Ha, I love the genes mixing too. I think that most of us are pretty creative people, from what I have gathered, and being able to express creativity with chickens is sooo fun! I now know how Mendel (the pea genetics discoverer) felt!

Congrats on the thinning of your flock Lisa. Talk about will-power! I'll give you a week before your bator is back out...

Sad news this morning. My Exchequer Leghorn, Chelsea, seems to have disappeared :( I hope she is okay. My little vagabond.

Ace, loved your OT chicken story and your pics. Did you crochet those hats? I still need to send these feed bags to you.
