I would love to get some Frizzles, but I don't think she could sit on a dozen LF eggs, plus if I move her where I want her to go, she goes right back to her old nest. So not sure if I should try locking her in there for a few days to see if she will finally just settle down and sit where I want her to sit. I would hate to buy some eggs and have her leave them, specially since I've never had a broody, and I'm not sure how good she will be, but she is pretty determined at this point. I found her a few weeks ago with about 10 eggs in the cinder block, and now yesterday after someone lost their JB, I got to thinking I haven't seen her for a few days, and she was under the crate coop with 15 tiny tiny bantam eggs. Well now I blocked that off, and she is kidnapping the others eggs, but if I move her to where I want her, she quits. So I'm not sure if I lock her in there she will just settle down and stay.
And I don't need my Silkies to go too, I don't know where I would put them all. I have plenty of space for nest boxes, but to keep them from the other girls after hatch will be the issue. Are they pretty good at keeping them safe or do I totally need 100% enclosure just for mom and chicks. That is the main issue. I can keep them locked up in the shipping crate coop for a good few weeks, its only 5 feet by 4 feet by 4 feet high. But they will need to be left out. And the grow out pen has 2 month old chicks in it right now, and in a few weeks I'm hoping to move them out and put the new babies out. But I guess I can figure something out if needed.
