Utah!

I have a large wood shed/shipping crate that I was going to convert into a chicken coop but its going to be alot more work then I thought, and I dont see it getting done. So I am just going to sell it and get something else. If anyone here would like to buy it, let me know. I paid 150, but i'd take around 120? for it. It's 5x7x7ft and im sure it is decently heavy. Would probably need something like a fork lift and flat bed trailer to move it, or several big strong guys, im not sure lol.
that's too bad! I hope you're able to find something soon!

Had a chance to meet Amanda today. What a sweet young lady, and her daughter is such a doll. Such a fun time meeting new folks on here. I love chicken people/friends. :)

wow its hot today! the girls are sitting under the mister system staying cool. and the grape vines are growing to give them shade and are doing a little now but in time there should be a lot more shade.

We had just as much fun meeting you, Cynthia! These chickies I got from you are just gorgeous! I'll give them a few days to settle in and then I'll post pics. Soooo cute!

I sprayed down the horses today to help them stay cool. Our Arabian usually doesn't like it, but he let me wet him down twice. Must have felt good. RJ, I think he'll warm up a bit. BR's are generally pretty agreeable. I had a cockerel last year and was sad to rehome him. I could pick him up and carry him around like a puppy. Okay, random question for everyone who wants to play: If you could only have one breed of chicken and it was a "common" breed (utility bird, mass egg layer) what would you have? Just curious.

I would go with the Plymouth Barred Rocks. They are a longtime favorite for both me and the wife. We think them beautiful creatures and are the first birds we picked out for our backyard chicken operation. This is the first time we have had chickens as a hobby. I very much favor the heritage breeds, the old time chickens my grandfather kept round the place. After a 54 year lapse, I have birds back in the coop he built in the 1930's. It still works just fine and is my grow out building. It is 12' x 20' and can hold a lot of birds I suppose.

Fun question,

RJ

RedIII, thanks for the insight on my new bird Rooster Cogburn. We really want him to get on well here, and it would be sooooo nice if he learned to like us as well. We will just keep working on him, I suppose he is a softy under them feathers.
