My bird catcher is my almost 3, grandson. He loves to catch them, and to hold them. They stopped by last evening for a bit. It is all good by me.

After iluv's horrible experience with bugs I've been super paranoid. I've been obsessively checking my girls every day. Especially my little silkie girls. This morning I actually found 5-6 little critters on one of my fluffies. I'm pretty sure that it's lice. Ugh! I think I checked and rechecked everyone 2 or 3 times and that is all I could see.

I will be treating her for sure! Should I go berzerk and treat the whole flock and sanitize the coop? I'm a bit of a clean freak and scrub my little coop and change the shavings in the run once a week. At the very least I'll scrub it now, but how crazy clean-freaky should I get?

Cynthia, Amanda will let you know if we get extra SG's. I did pre-sell most of these at the fair. I know I will have extra silkies for sure and will post those but not sure about showgirls, depends on how many I get from the eggs I have to hatch next week. I should get about 25% SG and I have 20 eggs in.

Oh man! Tis the season. Cooler nights means bugs finding their way to warm bodies. I would at least dust the coop corners and floor with a little Sevin, or Pyrethrins spray or dust to be safe, before adding shavings back in. That way if there are any stray buggies that will nip it in the bud.

Liz, I am amazed how many you got to hatch. You need to hatch all the eggs, I never would have guessed that many would make it!

Wow that makes me feel good. I was feeling bad that so many did NOT hatch... Started with 36 I think and only ended with 23... Wish it had been more! I don't mind hatching for ya.

You got almost all of them to hatch that went to lockdown though, I can't get that many, I get more dead-in-shell chicks than that with this breed. So, you are hatching guru to me
Now, we will see how mine do! Scared! I think mine are due on 8/21-8/22 I need to find my notes. I already pulled a couple. :/ I threw in with the Silkie/SG, two NN eggs, I am hoping to get a blue NN, and a couple frizzles, and two more OE from the hen that I thought made the cutest OE's from my last batch.

Liz, if your frizzle starts to look boyish be sure to let me know and you can have one of the frizzles if these eggs hatch

About the Box Elder Fair meet up, If I am not working I would definitely try to come! I think we are going to do the rodeo, it looks fun!
