Utah!

Rural, sounds like you may have a pullet. I have had some dominant hens mount others in a show of aggression, but I rarely see males mounting other males (Funny side note: I had a cockerel try to do that to a juvenile tom once - he got whipped by the turkey for it :) )

I'd guess her eggs will be light brown. I have had a similar mix, white egg layer x brown layer, and they come out a creamy light brown.

I guess I didn't realize Hercules was his dad, thought it was a frizzle Americana that Lisa has (or is that Hercules?). I'd love a link to a pic if anyone knows a link.

Why don't you come up Friday if the weather's nice? I have the day off and I may be downsizing my herd and the pretty younger paint will be easier to place. Just be prepared, my big coop has cobweb's and moulting going on!

I was just wondering if any of my friends on here has an incubator they might consider lending to me so I could try out my first time hatching eggs? I would like to order a couple eggs but between the cost of the eggs and an incubator I cant afford to buy my own yet, but if I knew I could handle the whole incubating eggs thing, then I plan to buy my own in the spring and start up my own breeding project. But I wanted to see first if anyone would be willing to lend me there's so I could experience it once before winter comes, and could let the chicks grow out over the winter and have more breeding stock for next spring/summer. I dont know anything about incubating eggs, so I may need some guidance and an incubator thats idiot proof lol. Thanks in advance.

Oh you just wait. All those Silkies will be great incubators in a few months. You won't know what to do with them all. I have one you could borrow, but my friend has duck eggs in them right now, she's trying for some Runners. She set them on Monday, not sure how long Ducks take, but you can borrow it when she is done.

Iluv, I would lend you my still air, but it's not a very reliable one. It's ultra finicky. If you can't find another one, though, you're welcome to try it.

One of our neighbors behind us has got to have geese. DH ad I can hear a weird noise out back at certain times of the evening, and my best guess is a goose. I'm dying to know who has what and how many. Too bad I can't go hopping fences, lol. Does anyone here keep geese?

Quote:Thanks you guys, not sure what to do cause the eggs im wanting to get are hard to find so id have to get them now if im going to try it because they are hard to get ahold of and because it gives more time for the chicks to grow before it gets cold. And paint eggs arent cheap so I need an incubator that behaves lol. I know im going to have alot of broodies next year so maybe I wont have to buy one afterall lol But would love to hatch some new blood now so that I could weed out some new ones to use for breeding next yr also. Im going to target paints, and want to put a few more paints in the breeding pen with my roo.

Update: I ran out of time to bid on the eggs but might get another chance if they decide to sell a few more. I just couldnt buy them without knowing for sure I had an incubator to use lol. I wish my birds were old enough to start breeding now lol
Update again: I messaged the seller and they might have more I can buy in a few days. If anyone has a reliable incubator I can borrow now please let me know. Thanks!
