Utah!

Derald--I have some small ones....2 black, about 3 weeks old if you want them they are yours! Both hatched from really dark eggs---from two different breeders so you could take both and choose who is the purdiest in the Spring

I will take both, now we just have to figure out how to get them to SLC.

i gotta put down my special needs girl i think. she is blind, has bad feet and a bit of a cross beak. she has issues eating now and is too thin. i feel horrible but i think its whats best for her. she is a old girl too. but yeah i feel horrible. will try to do it tomorrow i think

Awww Birdman, that is always a sad thing to have to deal with, so sorry!

Derald, I will save them for you, no rush, they are in my garage with a handful of other babies waiting to see who looks boyish and who stays girlish. These two I have pegged as males from early on, they are chest bumping and already have combs and wattles looking to be turning "the red that we dread". haha.

I will holler if we come your way. At the latest, we are going to a BYU game Nov 15, a Saturday, we can meet up on our way there. We may come sooner though.

If anyone from Logan heads to SLC soon, give me a holler if you can do a chicken train for us :D

Sorry Brad. Not an easy thing to do. :(

hey, I have recently become the new owner of 3 bobwhite quail (2 males 1 female). My nephew had nowhere to put them for the winter (he had to move to logan for school, and is renting a place, and the birds were at his mom's house up in the Kamas area, too cold for them I guess). I am in need of some advice because I've never done quail before.

I'm assuming they need different feed than just lay mash that my chickens are on?

The cage they are in, is large, but it's just chicken wire (and hardware cloth) all the way around. They only have a small box size area with 3 sides (and a board across a corner at the top) that they jump up into to huddle down for the night. It also has an aluminum roof over it partially. It's about 4 ft off the ground. I'm assuming it would be wise to build a better one, but I don't even know really where to begin. Do I just build a smaller chicken coop? one where I can access the eggs.

I don't feel like that will keep them warm enough, because I went out there this morning, and the poor female was fluffed up, and I could still see her shivering. I think they're adorable, but I'm not sure if I just got in over my head...

IF someone is interested in them, I could likely easily be talked into selling them. I'd almost rather them go to a home with some other bobwhites, because I feel like that ratio is not right (2 males to 1 female lol, not their fault, the others died somehow). The cage is not included though (my nephew would like that back).

oh, and I believe that my nephew got them in February. Cutest little things though :D I really think they sound so cute (so far ;) my family just delivered them last night, and this morning was the first real good look I got at them)

Hi peeps! I just sold my Fayoumis to a nice guy. He is looking for pullets point of lay or just after if anyone wants to thin their flock before winter. He lives by you Cynthia, up the canyon. He has a 8 x 20 covered run.
