Utah!

That lavender orp is beautiful. Where did you get her if you don't mind my asking? Is she a good layer?

Judging from the hatchery orp' behind (yet another sentence I never thought I'd be typing), they are plenty fluffy. Yay spring.

I'll see if I can get a pic of them together later. They look like they are completely different breeds. The splash is an English Orp. The person I got her from, I think, said she was from Ewe Crazy.

Happy Late Thanksgiving! I am thankful for my chicken friends.

I learned of a neat way to skin pheasants a few days ago, and I'm wondering if it will make the chicken processing process easier!

I've never cooked pheasant before. Howo Es it taste? Any suggestions how to cook it?
Check out thescottreaproject.com He is a good ol back home butcher /cook turned utube sensation in the UK and has gained a large following in the States as well. That might be over stating it a bit but (most of) his videos are great.
I used his videos to help me learn to process several different kinds of animals. I have tried a few of his recipes and have not been disappointed.
He has videos on How to......everything
skin, cut, cook All kinds of animals. His range is really quite impressive.
Some of his earlier videos leave a bit to be desired (bad music and a bit of incomplete info) but most are very useful and informative.
I look forward to trying pheasant myself ;-)

So ridiculously excited! I'm getting a new incubator for my birthday/Christmas present! :D Sometimes it pays to have both of those on the same day. ;) I love my Brinsea Mini Advance but it only fits 7 eggs at a time so I'm getting the Brinsea Octogon 20 Advance! :D They are currently on sale plus they are having an additional 20% off for Black Friday/Cyber Monday AND I have a friend with an extra humidity pump that offered to give me his which saves me an extra chunk of change! Yay! Can't wait to get it and fill it with eggs! :D

Awesome, very excited for you!

Wow that sounds like so much fun! Congratulations on your birds! So exciting! What did you end up buying? How did the modern games go? I should have sent the MGs I picked up with you! This one rooster, the one that one first place here, is such a jerk.

The modern games went very fast. I kept the hens for pets. I bought 3 Seramas cock and 2 hens all black and a Mille Fleur Duncle

Happy late Thanksgiving, the cold and snow have put a general damper on my birds spirits. They don't like walking on the snow and or ice at all. Even my fat birds try to fly from open spot to open spot. I worry over my DW's modern game birds, those long legs seem to not want to warm up very much. Me thinks it makes both them and me a tad sad. I keep hoping for a nice open winter, as was the winter last. I don't think I will hold my breath however.

Good to see the baby chicks that are three weeks old and hear of new 'bators in the fold. Hope everyone is doing well and had a nice weekend past. I saw sundance was at the big show down south, I should like to see something like that at some point in time. We are getting down to near zero degrees in the early a.m. Sundance might be on to something…

Best to all and your birds,

RJ

My birds have tolerated it pretty well so far, but we probably have less snow and these birds have shorter legs and longer feathers.

Do you ever heat your coop? We have not at all so far.

We did hatch a few SLW from our Foley birds. The two black birds are from my Foley SLW over a Lavender Wyandotte. I hope everyones birds are doing well.

RJ, I still have all my modern games and I'm worried about them, too. They've been garage birds since I got them. First it was for their quarantine period and then it got cold so they've stayed. :( Oh how I'd love to put my van in the garage but tigers just too many birds in it right now.
