Utah!

Does she like dirt? My leghorn will poop really dark. There is a site with the many different poops. lol..have you seen that yet? Will find it, maybe someone else will like the info..http://www.chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0
This is a great site that shows the norm, and the bad...

Yes I have looked at that chart and it is none of those. Gertie is a favorite. I'm just hoping it will go away. I could take a picture of it but don't want to gross everyone out. I'm afraid it is blood.

She loves to peck at shiny things. We have this metal thing on our house next to the coop and she pecks at the screws on it. So I'm afraid she maybe found something the fence guy left on the ground. I tried looking and getting all the garbage cleaned up from the building but I think she must have found something and swallowed it. That is the only thing I can figure.

I would watch her for sure. There is a picture of a real black one. I see a couple actually. If it is red blood, that usually means it's coming from lower below, and not up in the intestines..but you did say black. hmmm, keep us posted. I hope she is ok.

She's pretty. I had a white crested blue. It was a he, he had to go where he's could live. A guy came all the way from Idaho to get him. He had a white crested blue hen, so he really wanted one a roo to go with her.

Arg........Cynthia.........you're making me want to go take pictures. Glad you're having fun with the new camera! Those Canons are pretty nice toys to have.

auntie hattie, your Polish girl is very pretty! I hope it isn't blood. That was my first guess, but it could be something else in her diet. What kinds of treats do your birds get? Any kind of bugs you see them eating frequently? I have seen my chicks pick at shiny metal things, but they've never gotten a piece of anything to eat. The closest problem I had was a Leghorn who got a nail in her foot and developed Bumblefoot from it. We didn't even know she had it in there until a raccoon got her, poor thing.

When I got my girls this last fall we were coming back from a vacation and picked them up from a breeder in California. This breeder was at a park in southern California with a bunch of other breeders and other chicken friends from BYC I think. Anyway they were all just meeting up to trade chickens and have lunch and talk about chickens. It looked so fun. I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in doing that? I think it would be fun. They do it about every other month or so I think. Just putting that out there if it sounds fun to anyone because I would love to do this.

Yes it is black. Tar black! I just remembered the guy spilt stain. I wonder if it could be that. The only treats I have been giving them is sting cheese and yogurt.

Man i can't keep up !!

Cynthia--my bad, you said barring I assumed you meant black and white. never seen gold! How cool is that? I want one. of course!

AuntieHattie--LOVE your girl. that is what I thought i bought at IFA but mine is a blue with white crest instead of black with white crest. ( She is sweet but i really wanted black. Hope she is ok!

Phoenix---it was definitely HenRee being mean, she would drag my buff orp by the neck feathers around the run. It was awful. But I am glad she is being sweet for you! Change of scenery does wonders on chickens....I tried putting her in the garage and letting her run wild around the yard, but as soon as she got around my others---mean. So Poor Snape lost that very last feather, her very last shred of dignity. Poor baby! She looked so goofy, probably best to have none than that big long one! It was kind of funny I have to admit we got a lot of chuckles when she would come prancing by. I miss them both. Particularly HenRee, she was very very sweet to the humans.

Ok so I have figured out how to lose my winter weight. Pull up that chicken poop link and get a good look before mealtimes.....esp. the one with worms. And the comment about worms in eggs.
