Looking at calender..says lavenders..hmm, maybe I had some other lavender breeds, don't remember that though. I have the EE's for the 18th of Nov.
Ok, you are sooo right..I have the Georgia lavenders down for Feb. 1st. Sorry. That's more like it with the size! They were supposed to hatch on the secone, but they hatched a day early..the 1st..that's what my calender says. Soo.will have to rethink when she will lay!! Woot..thanks to Lisa and her great calender keeping. I just picked up my last year calender and saw lavender..hmm..I did hatch some other lavenders..just not Ameauacnas.

I am getting so many I can barely remember now. back then I was writing it down but I have forgotten on these last ones, I better keep better track......so three months old, we are over halfway there hopefully!

So, the broody hasn't hatched her eggs yet, but she is still sitting on them, hissing and pecking at anyone who gets near. I thought they would have hatched by now, but I think she might have a couple more days. My roommates are up there until Tuesday and said they would text me pics if she hatches anything out by then. I did manage to check the eggs--lifted her up a bit to take a look at them. No pips, but also no eggs that looked weepy or bad. Got pecked a few times for my trouble. Looks like she has 14 eggs under there.

Lisa and Wendy--that last little BLRW got out, though they peched him a bit bloody on the back in the process. Doing fine now. I miscounted the first time, so that one was actually the 17th to hatch. When I pulled them out, there were two eggs in there that hadn't hatched. Since I only candled once during their incubation, I'm okay with that.

I opted to put the new hatched chicks and hatching eggs on KSL this time. I'm kind of going on the assumption that the broody will hatch at least some of the ones she is sitting on, and I can always incubate more of the little tykes if I need them. If they sell, that's cool, and if they don't I'm okay with that. I just have so many chicks here and the new coop up in Duchesne isn't going to be ready for about 2-3 weeks. My roommates are up there working on it, but we will still have to insulate the inside and set up the watering system. Drawback of having your coop so far away is that it takes longer to get anything done! Once it's done, the legbars and Breda can go up and that will cut down the population considerably! We also have to get the meatbirds culled out--that will free up the large pen on Fort Chicken and then the rest of the birds can go up there. I will be very glad to get all these birds up where they belong!

I know which lavenders I was thinking now. It was my lavender cochins twins, that wouldn't leave each others side. They are now laying. The gal that has them keeps in touch. They sure got pretty..little bantam cochins.

We were glad to see you too...The toe on the little one is fine...just took a little too much nail off..."She" was getting picked on so I brought her inside She is in the kitchen in a cage for the moment.
The "Rooster" is younger than mine and a little smaller, but is a "little" bit redder on the comb...I am thinking hen at this point too.
The Goat is getting closer but no kids yet...She is anxious to get it over with as much as I am. LOL

You guys are lucky to be able to candle your eggs, hehe. I haven't been able to get more than a peek of half an egg sticking out from under my broody hen. I have no idea how many of those eggs are good. Less than a week to go, so far as I can tell.

Cynthia, Pinkie is looking extremely cute. It kind of looks like she has fuzzy little boots on

My brother liked seeing her when we came down last week.

Lisa - Me too! Whenever I hold or carry something fragile, I'm constantly thinking about how I might accidentally trip or drop something, because I stumble and run into stuff all the time! I like to consider myself an honorary door frame inspector. My shoulders frequently run into the side on doorways when I go past. Yep, just checkin' that they're there! Whether intentionally or not.

How's the little splash settling in?

Hey Sphinx, remember those three cockerels I got from you? Man, they're getting big fast. I saw them yesterday and they're such handsome boys! My boyfriend keeps insisting that they're girls, just to tease me about how we'll be up to our ears in eggs. Last night when they were in the coop, I grabbed each one and checked them out with a flashlight to prove to the boyfriend that they looked far too boyish to be girls. And then I hit a snag. That little red mutt cockerel really does look kind of like a girl. The other two scream boy all over, but I'm having trouble finding any pointy feathers on this red one at all. How dare he do that to me! How dare he get my hopes up that this one could actually be a girl, after all? And it's the one that's my favorite, too! I will try to get pictures the next time I'm out there so that you guys can see what you think.

how old are our pencils cynthia? i have been busy extending my garden, i am doing cattle panels for the fence, its thick wire and will hold up vines well, had to go to the salt lake ifa to get the panels and as we were paying i saw a little mini lop rabbit with the cutest face ever, well seeing how i have a double hutch and only one rabbit and with my mom wanting to get a small rabbit i pointed her out to my dad and he took one look at her and told the lady we wanted her lol. so now we have two rabbits. i lost one of my parrots last night, he was a congo african grey parrot named mithrandir. he went through hell in life, he was a wild caught so they went and stole him from his family and literally packed him like a sardine and took him to a world he did not know to live in a cage and abused by a lot of people. he was over 30 years old and he died young. i rescued him a few years ago, at the time he hated all humans and would attack them leaving them a bloody mess, well me and him learned trust and grew to love each other, i was able to hold and kiss him, its something people said would never happen but we proved them wrong. mithrandir had some neurological issues where he would often have seizures, he had a issues walking at time and had a ton of other issues, they were not something we could cure sadly. so as hard as it is to lose him, its a good thing too because now he is free, free of the pain this world caused, he is more happy now. anyway rest in peace mithrandir, i will miss you and always love you. its so hard to loose a pet and it hurts even more when they die so young i know he was a parrot but i think you all understand what i am feeling. i was up late laying him to rest, i plan to plant a burning bush next to him because in the fall it will turn the color of his tail

I know just how you feel. I still miss my Ellie dearly, and she's been gone for at least a month. Mithrandir.....good name! It fits, with him being gray and all. I hate it when people stick animals in small cages like that, especially if they've been poached. It sounds like you gave him a good run at the last of his life, though. You're right, he's in a better place now and I'm sure he's happy.

thank you yeah i guess in some african language mithrandir means "grey wanderer", a person who had him before me was a expert on languages or something and named him that because he goes from home to home
