Utah!

I'm so not the one to be answering this but it might be sour crop. Type in sour crop and read about it. Good luck. I wish I could help more . The poor thing.

I need help. We were checking on the girls and this one has this sack bump thing going on. Its not hard. Any ideas? Anyone seen anything like this? I have no idea whats going on. Its sort of squishy like a balloon.

Is this normal?

it fits in the palm of his hand. Any help would be great
that is just her crop, its like food storage until the gizzard can proses the food. its totally normal. she has just been a pig today :D my girls love when i massage theirs as they are going to sleep

Hahaha I've never seen one that big! She has been eating a lot then. I'm glad you answered bird man I don't have the experience that all of the rest of you do. I was just guessing. Glad it is nothing.

I'm seconding what birdman said - she's just been pigging out and her crop is bulging

My girls do that almost daily. I was concerned when I first noticed it, too, but then I figured out what was going on. If it were sour crop, I believe you would be able to smell something stinky, but I don't think you need to worry about that right now.

whew no smell. thanks I'm glad its not something bad. i was worried i might have to tell the kids that one of their chickens wasn't going to make it.

I remember when I first noticed the bump on my first chicken, I thought she had a cancer tumor lol. Then after reading I was so happy that was not it. Mine sometimes get quite hard, and it sits to the side, but no worries, it is all part of their normal routine. By morning it will be flatter, then you will know for sure that she is just a little pig :p

Sundance, What a jerk! You are right. Obviously the guy has not had chickens much or he would realize how easy to rehome silkie girls. Duh. He better not put them down, that would be so sad. He needs to put up a pic, they would go in a minute.
