Utah!

I completely understand. I am in awe at the knowledge you all have....I really like my chickens, but don't know much. I like the ducks we had last year...still don't know much about them....Now if you want to talk goats, I know lots.;)
But you all make me smile....I love my chicken friends! :hugs

Your chicken friends love you too!

This little guy is a bantam white crested cuckoo polish roo.  He's 6 weeks old.  Our dear friend Lisa has offered to haul him with her up to Idaho Falls this weekend if anybody up that way wants him.  He's free.  :)  He has gotten along great with all other chickens, male or female, I don't think there's a fighting bone in his body.  Let me know if you're interested!

I am also headed down to Red's next week with some chicks, so I could take this handsome boy to somebody down south! Or bring anything back from down south to Logan again :) You know I love me some chicken shuttle haha :)

Went out to the coop this morning, my australorp is still trying to lay an egg, getting her butt kicked relentlessly by my three layers. What are they thinking>? They must figure that is their domain, and nobody else should be squatting in there......boy do they have another thing coming in the next few weeks and months ahead......argh.

My white rock is also squatting now......so 5 should be ready soon, my lav, the Aust. and the rock, the GSL and BSL. they are all 18-25 weeks. The suspense is killing me!

Sphinx, have your lavs laid yet?

Wow, I can't believe you guys are still hatching chicks. I have to admit I am kind of EXTREMELY relieved to not have chickens in my house anymore. Though they area awfully cute.

Delarooshens, I voted for Sam.

IainUtah, I have found your geese very fascinating, please keep posting about them.

Sasha, that little guy is so cute! I hope you find something for him.

Hattie, good luck on your kitty's labor today. Is she a first time mom or a pro?

Not haattie but kitty is experienced pro. The problem is that her last labor ended up with an emergency c sect, I am going to give her this morning to do something then off to vet we go

What makes you think this is a little roo?

He sure is cute, never did the bantam polish. Pretty cute all right.
The fact that in 3 days he had red wattles! :) The other Polish doesn't have anything at all. We thought from the start he may be a he, then we hopefully thought she, but now I'm 90% sure it's a he. Lisa saw him as well and said "he"! I also have a bantam cochin that has turned out to be a he, I think. Feathered out just like a girl, but "her" wattles and comb are redder and bigger than my girl cochins that are twice "her" age.

Ha, well, it goes both ways, we are learning a lot about geese. And, we have learned that there is yet another animal lover out there, that will do most anything to help out a poor little thing that has problems. I've been following along with your stories and pictures of that little goose with the bum leg and foot. Talk about commitment to an animal! You are great. Thank you for sharing, and I look forward to how that little one comes along. You have beautiful birds..keep posting pictures!!
X2! I do hope to get a goose or two someday, and I really enjoy reading about your geese. :)
Here is my chicken story for the morning. I sent my 4year old son outside to make sure the chickens had water. He came back inside to say that the chickens were gone all 4 of them. I'm thinking crap where are they? Did something eat them? How long have they been gone? So i get out there and the coop door is open. I didn't see any feathers so i started calling them. They came running back from around the corner of the house. I had 1 on the kids grab some treats and we got them back in the coop with no problems. Yay
I think I would have just died! So happy your chickens are all OK. :)

I have 3 girls that are sooo close! My 2 Wyandottes have been RED for a few weeks now and are about 20 weeks old. My Ameraucana is....how old is she, Lisa? She's just behind yours by maybe a couple weeks. Maybe about 24 weeks? She's overdue! Come on, girl! Lay already! She's only gotten truly red in the face in the last week though.

Clay is now out in the "big girl pen" at 9 1/2 weeks old. The Ameraucana is bullying him a lot still after 3 days, so he comes RUNNING to any of us that walk into the run. He's become EXTREMELY sweet and cuddly, and will now jump into our arms and take a nap.

Here's my little bantam cochin that has "turned in to" a boy. He's free to anyone that wants him as well. Anyone think he could possibly be a she? Still free.

He's 6 1/2 weeks.

Wow... lots going on, as usual=) Good luck with the kittens... love seeing the geese/ducks... so fun to have so many different people to talk about chickens with and call friends!!

Very pretty birds sasha!! I would also bet that cochin bantam is a he... He's going to be a nice looking roo!! Wish I was going to have a cochin bantam pen, and I would take him, I have 2 bantam cochin pullets=)

Lisa, so I'm guessing your ameracauna pullets from azriel have not started laying... how old are they?? Because that crazy olive egg was from the pullet from her... I thought for some reason they were about the same age... but maybe I'm crazy... my Marans BSL and blue orp are starting to go red now too, so hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have a darkish egg from the MArans BSL... (watch it be a light tan egg...haha) oh, yeah, plus the OE you're bringing me, how exciting!!

Boy. :)) I can see your polish is a boy, I was teasing. I wish, I wish, I wish, I could have roos..he is just too cute! So is this little guy. Is he crowing yet..either one? BTW, bantam cochins were one of my most fav. bantams, now I go ennie meenie, miny moe..or however you spell that, between the bantam cochin and the silkies. They are both the sweetest out of all the bantams I've tried.

Omigosh, I'm so embarrassed! I slept funny last night and I have the worst kink in my neck and it's making me not think straight. I KNOW you're the one with the cats. I really do. I hope that she can have a successful VBAC. I didn't realize that they did c-sections on cats, though I should've realized.

Wow, Sasha that sure is a definite rooster. Really cute little guy though.

Lisa, my lavenders aren't laying yet. I did notice that Cynthia's (maybe I'll name her Cynthia, ha ha) face has gotten quite red in the last week or so, but the comb isn't very red yet. I also noticed that my BLRW that hatched on 2/6 has suddenly gotten very, very red. Both are kind of starting to squat, so maybe it'll be soon now. I sure hope so! The lavenders seem so, so tiny compared to the wyandottes and the partridge though. They're literally half the size.
