Utah!

I couldn't go to the hospital with my son. :( I got sick..but I get too stressed, and that causes me to get the tummy thing! Poor DH went alone. But I just got off the phone with dr. at the ER. and let him know, that my son will play things down a bit. The dr. said, oh we noticed, because the dr. last night was very concerned about him. He is drinking some kind of iodine stuff before the CT scan right not. And, they are doing more blood work. They think the swollen leg is another type of infection. The will decided after these test results, if he stays in or not.
Thanks for the ear..I can vent here, don't want to worry the kids too much yet. Did go on fb and ask for family prayers there.
Thank you guys!

Cynthia I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I'm glad they are giving him the tests he needs to find out what the problem is. Please let us know what the results are. It sounds like they should admit him to the hospital. Infections can be a scary thing. Which reminds me.....Sundance how are you feeling?

Lisa cute little babies!

Cindee, be strong for him. I know how it is to worry about your kids. When my daughter told me she was divorcing her hubby I was physically sick.
Hattie I am doing much better no more shots just pills. the swelling is almost gone and it doesn't hurt too much any more, Glad you can help the chick.
Lisa cute babies. I am jealous of your fcbm babies. I have never had any luck hatching those kind of eggs.
Blujeans hope the goat is doing ok. If its a doe perhaps she can replace her mother.
Everyone else keep us updated with your hatches. I candled my eggs last night. I had 10 out of 40 quit. Seramas have the cutest little eggs. I also have a dozen Auracana eggs 2 of those were not developing. They are very hard to hatch. I have had some success with them. If I get enough Serama chicks I hope to have some for sale at Chickenstock.
Did everyone see the information about the show in a couple of weeks? Its at the Salt Lake County fairgrounds. I am thinking of entering my Seramas and my white turkin

Cynthia, I'm so sorry that your son is so sick. It would be awful to not be there with him. It does sound like he's getting really great care though. I hope both you and your son feel better soon.

FBCM eggs; I've heard of people sanding down the eggs a little bit to make them a little more porous. I haven't tried it, but I'd be tempted to.

Lisa, those babies are really cute.

Sundancen, glad you're feeling better. It'd be tempting to enter my Coronation Sussex or my BCM hen, but after your bad experience, I'm a little scared to leave my chickens there. Actually, I was nervous before, and having you lose a hen made it even worse.

Not sure but it looks like the show is only one day. So you wouldn't need to leave them. I will email and ask for more info

Sundance glad to here you are doing better.

Cynthia any news?

Sheesh I am having the hardest time with this hatch of chicks. I think they must have been deficient in something. They are all having a little trouble standing with their legs together. Of couse the only rooish one is doing GREAT!

Hattie, just came on to report..yes, my husband called about a half an hr. ago. Wow, that boy had a lot going on. Colitis, infection in that swollen leg, and infection in his hip, and pneumonia. They have admitted him. They are giving him stronger anti-biotics than he would get by pills, plus, they probably wouldn't be good on his stomach and colon anyway.
When my husband was being told about one of the infections..he asked, where is this infection..the dr. just shrugged and looked at him and said, everywhere we look.
I am so glad he is finally being looked at seriously. He's lost a good 25 lbs easy the last couple of months. He just looks so ill. His hat doesn't even fit his head anymore. :( I bet he feels better by tomorrow with the anti-biotics at work. He did get some last night through IV. He's been so tired, and no wonder.
Sundance, you are right. We sure worry about those kids don't we? Even after they leave home. I am glad to hear that you are doing better! That had to be so painful. I just got sick, because of the stress. I do that sometimes. My health isn't that great anyway, my immune system wants to be no where in sight when I need it. Oh well, I'll be ok now that I know he's being taken care of, and watched.

Cynthia I am SO glad he is being taken care of and they are pinpointing the problems. Goodness he went way too long, hope he feels much better in the coming days! You too, now you know he is in good hands, get rest and try not to worry so much :hugs

I am done with the hatch...14 of 17 hatched, the other three just kind of sat there and sat there, me being impatient, went in slowly to find beaks, and the two wheaten eggs should have probably hatched last night darn it, I was wishing I would have helped sooner, they were ready, just did not get the pips externally. The other was an EE egg, and it had quit at least a few days ago.

So the tally 14--8 fbcm, 4 cuckoo mixes (surprise! the dad is not the blue wheaten roo ha ha it was the FBCM that the mom had just been put with, they all look just like the FBCM only a couple have white spots on their heads) and 1 wheaten and the one EE I posted earlier. The wheaten is just as white as snow, really nice.

I posted the 4 cuckoo/fbcm mixes on ksl, have 6 more in the bator due in two weeks...if anyone wants those chicks:D Then I am keeping the EE and wheaten for now, to see...keeping 2 of the FBCM and I have sold 2 so there are 4 of those left for sale also, if anybody dares fire up the brooder this early (where is your sense of adventure guys?)

Did you see the forecast!?? Snow again, lots, then COLDER than it was last week. Grrrr. I really need it to be February. Now.

Chickie pics to cheer everybody up in a little bit. Oh Cynthia, I found a home for Larry the Un NN this morning. He will be very happy! He was crowing gleefully this morning.

What kind of surface are they on? Maybe they do need vitamins
