The older boy on left, girl on right (Cynthia, this is the potential olive egger)
The babies White spots on head = boys
Another of the older ones. See how big the cuckoo combs are? All are like that, pretty obvious.
I was pretty excited to get all the eggs I set to hatch. This is the first hatch I have had with no mishaps i.e. temp spikes, unplugged bator, bator knocked over, dog knocking bator off table, kids opening bator ar adjusting knobs....finally they are all leaving it alone lol!
Cute babies, Lisa. I think your gender guesses are dead on. I have two chicks with white spots on their heads that I'm wondering are boys. I really want one to be a girl though, it's my favorite.
My ear doesn't hurt nearly as bad now, and I haven't oozed gunk from it in almost a day, which is awesome. I'm still essentially deaf in that ear though. I think that'll take time to get better though.
Guess what I came home to after work? Three green eggs
Plus a white egg and two brown eggs (even if one brown was from yesterday) I think my blue Ameraucana has started laying! And one of the green eggs is a whopper, too - same size as the ones from my mom's BSL. The older brown egg was from Stevie, my blue Wyandotte. We know it was her, because my mom saw her checking out the bushes several days ago, and then later that day, we found a pretty, skinny brown egg in the garage where she was being housed. Plus our SLW has started laying. Same shape as the blue's, but they are noticeably a darker brown with pink. So, all in all, that means that we have seven, possibly eight layers right now, though most are sporadic. The only frequent layers are Chuck Norris with her green egg, and then whoever is laying those cute white eggs. I still haven't figured out who they're coming from
I think my girls got a memo somewhere that I was going to need lots of eggs in the middle of winter to cheer me up, instead of in autumn. And three green eggs! I'm still
over that.
Sundance, hooray for you!
Lisa, don't overdo things, okay? Take it slowly, please.
Lisa, she looks great..she looks like she will lay olive eggs. Did you happen to ask her?
Sphinx, glad that ear is better. That is one bad pain in the ~ ear. Serious, I know that pain..so happy you are recovering.
Lisa, I hope that cough is better too. Like we are telling Richard, take it easy. They body has been through a lot. Even with an ear infection, and a bad chest cough, takes it out of you!
Sundance, good for you! It's good to have that done and taken care of. I'm happy for you too. I've been told to give it a try, but it sounds like it is pretty hard to get. Even with all that I have going on.
Red, eggs!! Pretty colored ones at that! I want an olive egg! In case you haven't noticed. Any olive colors going on in your daily collection? The blues and greens are pretty too. My Wheaten is laying really well. Pretty blue one.
Get ready, for wet. Everyone be careful driving in the morning. We are supposed to be getting ice mixed stuff throughout the state. Be careful friends!
Lots of snow heading our way this weekend..again. That means that we can pretty much look forward to a lot. We usually get it up here. At least our air is going to clear up!
OK so the last three nights on of my BO has not gone in the coop at night. I have had to climb under the coop to get her. Tonight when i picked her up and put her in the coop she was favoring one leg and had a limp. I looked her over and couldn't find anything wrong. She is towards the top of the pecking order so i don't think she was fighting but then again i leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark so i don't know what goes on during the day. I do have 2 hens that are around 9 months old and i think are trying to move up the ranks. 1 is the Dominique who is about the same size as the BO and then i have a barn yard mix that's built and looks of an ameraucana, except a lot bigger and she has lays a brown egg. I have seen her aggressive towards my Silkie roo. If she gets into his pen he will run away from her. I guess I'm just grasping at straws at this point. But if its fighting then why are my 2 silkie hens and bantam EE not getting hurt.
Birdguy that is the craziest thing ever! I cannot believe the chicken lived to tell about it.
Red, I am trying to take it easy, thanks! Congrats on all those eggs woot! Ever figure out what is up with the shaved chicken?
Sphinx, glad you are not hurting so much at least, even if you can't hear so well...this would be a good time to put roosters on your porch. You would not know they were there My pneumonia is doing ok, super hurts to breathe, trying not to talk or speak unless I have to it makes me cough and get winded. Not moving pretty much helps. But I tried to do some things today, paying a little for that tonight. I like being on here, you see, I do not have to use my voice--and as my DH says I am never at a loss for words so this is the deal for me
I still cannot believe that egg. Make sure you guys watch the video, there is more to it than the picture lol Crazy.
Madchicken, hope the limp improves. She is crazy not to go in at night! This cold needs to GO AWAY. now.
Anybody going from Logan to Orem holler. We have a chicken train needed Will keep trying Cynthia! Be careful everyone driving tomorrow.!
