Utah!

I called and left her a message. Have I done a bad thing?

Red's going to be a chick hoarder ha ha ha!!!!

So excited you guys. I got FOUR eggs today, including an olive egg- I haven't gotten one of those since Thanksgivingish. I also got a blue egg. Not sure if it's my ameraucana (again, nothing since late november) or my legbar (who hasn't laid since I set her eggs). So COOL!

Here's a chicken math story problem for ya'll. Sphinx and her 7 legbar/FBCM chicks go to visit Sundance and her 10 FBCM, 3 EE, silkie and sizzle chicks. When they said goodbye, who had what?

Ooh! Ooh! I know that one, Sphynx. The answer is: too much and trouble

And nice eggs!

Well, the incubators on KSL were already sold. So, while I went to IFA to get some feed and bedding, I also got a still air 'bator. I'm actually kind of scared of it because I don't want to kill any eggs, and I have no idea what I'm doing

I'm going to try and set some Icelandic eggs for the Easter hatch. We'll see how it goes.

I love the still air..! Better than the forced air. I figured that one out when I sold my forced air. I think Lisa likes them too. Just to warn you if you got the one with the thermometer and humidity thing on the outside..don't pay any attention to it! It doesn't work! Use a good ol Walmart brand. Those black ones that show both. I like them best. Keep the temp around 99 to 101, and you are doing fine. 102 is getting up there a bit. If you find that it is hitting 102, don't worry too much if it was only for a short while. You will do fine! Yaay! Red's in the game, and game it is.

Olive egg!

I found out last night, after talking with the gal that has the blues that I sold her years ago, and I now have the 5th generation of, may be an Olive egger! She said that she came from the marans mix, dad, and blue hen. I hope so. I can't wait for her to start laying. Probably two to two and a half months to go. :/ I just may have a doz. olive eggers this summer. lol..

OK so now if you hatch any females I call first dibs on any you decide to sell :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited you are hatching now, yayayayayay! Cyndiloo, I love the comment about the peas lol, this sounds like something I would do. The sunshine made me crazy today, I wanted to do cartwheels outside! I am so looking forward to real spring weather! Sphinx, that is a ridiculously complex riddle. I have to guess you brought back at least a BCM, an EE, probably another silkie or ornamental of some sort ...and she now has some legbar mixes. Is that even close? lol Donna came to visit with her cute boys that are growing up so fast! She was coming to get 2 bcm chicks and some eggs from Blujems...so your turn, guess how many chicks Donna left with ? It was not two...haha :) Good to see you Donna! She has that wild "I am about to set a mountain of eggs in my Sportsman bator" look in her eyes lol I can't wait! Good luck on those eggs to start you off :) AND I got to visit my good friend Blujems this morning. . .always love my visits there. I am setting 4 pretty eggs to hatch for her :) What a fun day, sunshine, and visits with chicken friends! (Makes up for having to sit through football all day tomorrow.....ugh...lol )

Cynthia, there are worse things, hehe. And knowing you, you will narrow down your flock to the really nice girls, so you'll probably only have half a dozen OE's

I have been very pleasantly surprised by all of the egg colors I've gotten from my girls (and just their feather colors, too!) I never really thought I'd have anything but medium brown eggs, maybe some white. I had really wanted a light green egg layer. Now I'm getting totally spoiled!

You know it's a little worrisome when you bring something new home, say an incubator for instance, and your mom gives you the "OH, NO" look.

I sure hope you do! I want to be there to see your face when you get your first olive egg, tell Scott he has to get a picture :) How the heck are you gonna wait 2 1/2 months more? Ha! :D
Oh and yes I agree on the still air. You can get great hatches in them, just be patient, it takes a little tweaking here and there :) And don't let your dog pull the plug out in the night...lol
