I got a scare when I checked on the chickens this morning. One of the Wheaten Ameraucana Hens was in the nest Box laying on her back with her feet in the air. Thought she was dead until she lifted her head to see what I wanted. Then she flipped back over and jumped out. Little Bugger.............
Ha! Can you imagine what she was saying to her friends! "Did you see the look on her face!? We really got her this time!"

does anyone know were to get Corturnix Quail chicks locally? i know there was a breeder in Sandy and one in West Valley that sold them straight run for 1.50 a chick. I have lost the numbers. I think they actually gave you a break if you bought 30+. I know you can buy them at feed stores for 3 to 4 dollars, but i don't want them for pets.

. I would be interested in a couple button quail for pets if anyone knows were to get a pure white breeding pair.

My buttons are silver and white and a partridge. Your welcome to some eggs or the chicks if they hatch. We enjoy having them in the living room where we can enjoy their antics

I wish my thermometer-hygrometer was here. I really, really need to set these eggs, but I don't want to mess them up because I can't correctly read the temps in my incubator. And it doesn't help that I have no idea what I'm doing. Aww man, I don't know what to do. And I don't feel good again, sorry to whine but I'm tired of feeling sick. Got an appointment with the eye doctor tuesday, so I hope I can get at least one problem solved.

What can I do to hekp? I worry about you. Feel better

February's Egg Production... Not bad!
49 eggs out of 3 hens! :) An average of 1.75/day.
What surprised me this month is the production of my Ameracauna! She outlaid our BA and RSL!

Lisa-- I am having mental difficulty not snapping up that little baby you have up on KSL. Asher is seriously partial to the Ameraucanas and I know he'd love her (because, of course, it is a GIRL!). After his got stolen from Duchesne a few weeks back, I had to take him to IFA to buy 2 to replace it and he positively dotes on them!

So I candled all the remaining eggs in my incubator and ended up tossing 2 1/2 DOZEN of them. :( Mostly Welsummers, but also about a dozen cream legbars. Fortunately, I stocked up on the cream legbar eggs, so there are still 20 in there that look good. The Isbars are doing the best, with 7/9 cooking right along. Even with all those I tossed, there are still about 45 eggs in there. I hate shipped eggs. Always have to buy tons just to get a decent amount out of them.

I candled the eggs I put in there from my Wyandottes and was very disappointed to find they weren't doing much of anything. How can they possibly be infertile with that many blasted roos jumping everything in sight?? Then I realized I just put them in there Tuesday night. I think I am having time and memory issues. I'll check them in another week to see if they are doing their happy thing. If they aren't, I'm going to be kicking some rooster butt bigtime...

Look what I found in my coop this morning! It's our very first one, I'm thinking about blowing it and keeping the shell for posterity, sort of like the "first dollar" that businesses hang up.

As soon as my son saw it he started saying "Egg! Eat! Egg!! Eat!!!" with the kind of stubbornness that only a two-year-old can muster. I'm not sure who laid it, but I saw both of the SFH sort of hunkering down in the middle of the day yesterday, it was out of character so I noticed it. Still no crowing from the black one, so I'm hoping she's still a She.

Not too bad size-wise.
