Utah!

Look what I found in my coop this morning! It's our very first one, I'm thinking about blowing it and keeping the shell for posterity, sort of like the "first dollar" that businesses hang up.

As soon as my son saw it he started saying "Egg! Eat! Egg!! Eat!!!" with the kind of stubbornness that only a two-year-old can muster. I'm not sure who laid it, but I saw both of the SFH sort of hunkering down in the middle of the day yesterday, it was out of character so I noticed it. Still no crowing from the black one, so I'm hoping she's still a She.

Not too bad size-wise.

Looks like my Australorp that started laying, that is the same age as yours. Congrats..I knew you should be getting an egg by now..plus, your others will start within the month, pretty sure. Yaay

I have a friend here in town that got a little Birchen Cochin Bantam when I had them, well, hers turned out to be a boy, he has started crowing, she can't have roosters. If anyone wants a beautiful bantam...here is what he looks like.

Hi Ladies and gents! Been a while since I was on here....long story short, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to get that taken care of...well partially, I'm awaiting reconstruction. Not the way I wanted to get a boob job. But, no more cancer!! Went to IFA today with intentions of ignoring the chicks...not gonna happen, right? Ever since we found out that we can have 10 chickens, the chicks have been calling our name. Our coop only holds 8 and we have six so we got two more Gold Sex Links. We will post pictures later of Maggie and Wanda. They look a little bedraggled right now because they are probably 2-3 weeks old. That ugly stage, lol. Too many posts to catch up on everyone so I hope everyone is doing well.

We saved our first egg. It was so exciting! To tell you the truth, I'm still not sure which chickens lay which eggs, but I do know we have eggs coming out of our ears. Even in the coldest of winter we were still getting 4 out of the six every day.

Well...I'm back and caught up!! I spent the week in Kansas City for some advanced training for work..long week but learned a lot..

The exciting news is that I brought home 3 dozen eggs from Chookschick!! I'm not sure what everything is but there are a bunch of chocolate ameraucanas in there!! Can't wait for Easter now!!

My incubator that I am building isn't getting quite up to temperature out in the garage.. got to work on it today a little.. Pictures when I get finished I promise...

Chickenmom! Ack! I'm so glad you are okay, even if you had to go Amazonian for a bit! I had a lump removed from one of mine a little over a year ago, but it was non-cancerous, thank goodness. Still, glad you are okay

Cynthia, that Cochin is beautiful. I wish I could take him for your friend. Ugh.........why do the boys all have to be so gorgeous?..............

Sundance, I'm so sorry to make you worry. I just like to whine a little. It helps relieve stress for me. I've been having trouble with my eyes for a few months, now. They have been painfully sensitive to any kind of light, and recently I'm having trouble with them getting blurry and feeling scratched or irritated. I think I may have an infection, which is why I have an appointment with the optometrist next week.

And, here's another lame turkey video

Ohhhh boy! The chocolate coloration sure seems to be coming into popularity, isn't it? Congrats on the nice score

I'm still battling to get my incubator up to temp. It's currently sitting at about 85 degrees, according to my Super Cheap Thermometer of Awesome that came with it. But, got my new therm today! YAY! I think I may try tucking the bator under my bed, where the heater vent blows more air. I really need to set these eggs. Otherwise...........I may just see if I can butter someone up to incubate them for me until I can get my bator figured out

Thanks for the well wishes Sundancenbare and Red. It has been quite the year. Not one I would like to repeat. But we look forward to the new girls growing up and joining the flock. Hope that goes well.
