Utah!

Hi Sphinx!

The NN---I ordered 5 and only two arrived. Appears 3 escaped the box. I called McMurray and they said it happens, and refunded me...but it was a bummer. I only kept one of the two because they were both orange. I might look in IFA when we come down to SLC, i really want a white or black one too.

My Dh said last night, when I asked him about expanding the coop--"Why don't we just tear the old one down and start over and make a nicer one" :th

So sweet. BUT I hate to go to all the expense, the chicken hobby is outta control. I am thinking if we can re-use alot of the lumber it would not be a bad idea, but where do I put 30 chickens to sleep while the building is going on? Could be a dilemma. I think he really learned alot building the last one, and kind of had fun doing it. He has never really done stuff like that, and after two springs of building, he kind of misses it maybe :)

Doughie, that hen house looks good. Will it be enclosed in a run, or just wander around the yard? Do you have anything that digs? That'd be my only concern with that design.

My chickens roam in their own fenced in area. So my coop is just that....roost and nests. I don't get any predators at my place. My dogs don't even let the squirrels get near the property line.

I just read that to my DH! he he... he says what? He has seen your coop and run! I wouldn't mind taking down the one straight out from the house, and doing something different. I've been trying to think how to get that coop just a bit larger, and it's a strange shape. hmmm?

Oh, a chick has hatched! My goodness that was fast. Saw the pip this morning, started to zip about an hr. after I got up, and then when I came in from taking care of the girls outside, there it was. I took it out. I think I have another pipped..the large one, but none of the small ones, and I didn't want this very big baby to roll the eggs around. It looks like a RIR, only the head is light. Glad she's taking them back.

I have two RIR pullets outside..
still trying to find a home for one of those girls. Nice dark colors on them.

Hey Lisa, I just went to my friends fb, and she has this picture up for her profile. Look how pretty that showgirl is. A sister to your boy.

Also, that polish is from me.

I'm hoping one of those eggs in there is hers. :D

Lisa, I am shocked at you. That's blasphemy. The Great Chicken shall smite you down if you don't take that back immediately and buy 5 more chicken as penance! Now I just happen to have 5 more chickens, so I can help you out there, being the good and Righteous Chicken Friend that I am. Mind you, they are all roosters, but there is no penance without pain, you know!

Hey guys, I'm looking to raise one more set of chicks this spring. Do any of you have a broody hen that you would be willing to sell? Any help in finding a good broody would be much appreciated!

We might have a broody. One of the Wyandottes keeps gathering up all the fake eggs and planting herself on them. She's only been doing it a couple of days, so I'm not entirely sure yet, but it's looking like it.

If you see an Orpinton, on ksl, they go broody pretty often. At least Hector's Orpington did. That may be why you see an Orp. hen on ksl that isn't that old.
