Funny you should ask!  I was going to ask you the same thing.  She is actually growing!  Ha, she has a tail now.  I can see that she has grown.  Very active.  East like a little piggy.  Still pretty small though.  I just love that little stink!  Eats out of my hand, gets right up into it when I have the meal worm treats.  

Mine is very friendly too..she hops on my arm when I try to clean the brooder and I can't get her off This breed must be a friendly one, my last one was super nice too. Super small, and super nice Mine is 7 wks old, and her body is still smaller than an average baked potato. 'Teeny tato'. Lol the chicks born 3/4 are so much bigger than her now, they kinda pick on her. But she has to have some buddies to go out to the coop/run with, so I am trying to get them to stick together. Funny, she is solid white, no black tips on her tail or wings yet, my last one, a black tail buff, had the tips showing by now. Are there solid white Japanese, do you know?

Blu--a quick question for you...

My 2 GSL are very different colored from McMurray, are all the roosters you have looking boyish? Any red comb/wattle showing? I am wondering if somehow one of mine is a boy, it has a lot more white feathering, but not seeing any comb or wattle redness, so I thought i would compare notes with yours. I swear it acts like a boy, I think it is trying the chest bump a couple of the others.. I think one
of my BR is a boy too, and a couple others are suspicious, I ordered all females I hope there are not that many mistakes in this batch

Hey Friends....I am worried about this silky hen....She is a year old, has not laid an egg in the month or so that I have had her. I don't think she is egg bound. But she doesn't move around much, She has been eating and drinking, but this morning when I picked her up, she seems to be drooling. Water was just running out of her mouth. Not sure if I should put her down or what to do. If you have any suggestions? Should I give her an antibiotic?
I have never had one like this so I am not sure what I should do.

I would definitely separate her from the others. It sounds like my really sick girl did when I first had an upper respiratory infection. She drooled, then started sneezing. I now use Denagard to ward of the upper R. thing. Works great. You can only order it. In the meantime, if you want to treat her, there are meds at the feed stores for chickens. But keep her away away from your others, and wash wash your hands before handling the others after handling her.

Casa most are quite red, there are a couple that are lighter, but they do act like boys. Of course I am not good at picking out boys....

OK, unfortunately I have her as separated as I can at the moment, all my carriers are full of chicks. She is in with her Rooster friend and another hen so I will have to treat all 3, just to be safe. I will try to run in to ifa. Thanks

Awesome! So she must be a solid white! We could not tell at chick stage what color she would be...they were marked as Japanese, so at least she is looking like the right breed. Hopefully she stays girlish too

Herbs---Cilantro grows right in the garden as well--I plant herbs in the house in December, in rectangular window pots, because I love seeing things grow when it is awful outside. I grab a few packets of seeds in the fall when they are on sale. They get really overgrown and crazy by spring, but I will get them hardened off---setting outside in the shade for a few days, then a bit of sun, here and there, more and more sun, takes about two weeks. They will start to wilt then you know it is too much. Once they can handle the sun, and don't wilt you stick them straight in the garden and they turn into big bushes by fall. Then I dehydrate the herbs and crumble them up to use. Sage is actually a really pretty plant, I use them as an ornamental as well, plant them in the sun they get a couple feet high and wide, and do come back each year. I have one in my front flower bed and a few out back. In just one season, if you plant one of the little starts you get at the garden center...or one you grow in the house...it gets huge. Chives are a nice ornamental too, the ones with the purple flowers are nice, and you can start with one plant, then divide it into two or three in the fall, the next year again...you could have a hundred plants in a few years for sure. They dry really nice too. They look pretty mass planted in long lines along the fence or in edging.

Blu, I had an issue like that over the winter with my turkeys. In their case, I think it was trouble adjusting to the cold, because they were usually shivering. I moved them into the garage in their own cage with plenty of shavings and a light for warmth. The garage tends to stay warmer than outside. I also gave them some vitamins in their water and plenty plenty of food. They pulled through it alright.

Mine like swiss chard, spinach, lettuce. Wheat grass also...Birdman would have a good answer for this one, I have seen him post a ton of stuff about gardening, herbs, I remember him posting things that you can plant for chickens to eat. Hopefully he will chime in here for ya!
