Utah!

I am at a loss as to gender with these 2 BLRW still. They are 9 wks old this wk. Their behaivior is pretty much the same, which seems girly -but I am so unfamiliar with the breed and they are keeping all their secrets. What do you all think??
I reserve judgement. They have girly bodies but the combs make you wonder. Last year, when I still thought Lacy was a GLW and had confirmed that Henrrietta was actually Henry, I spent hours looking at the What Breed or Gender forum. Wyandottes are notoriously difficult to sex. There were quite a few "roos" that ended up laying eggs. On my end of things, I am still undecided about my Houdans. I will have to get some pics of them.

Perfect timing you wrote this, I was laughing about how karma works, I got this one today!

LOL! What the heck is that? :D who laid it? It's so cute!

Lisa, your peanut egg made me laugh. Cuuuute!

Maybe she's getting even with you for making her exercise and lay that ostrich egg............

Cynthia, I'm dying over your Japanese chick. Sooo cute! And Sweetpea seems like such a sweetheart. I almost got a little bantam at IFA last week. It had such bad pasty butt, I could tell it wasn't going to last another day or two. And I couldn't sneak my hand in there long enough to grab it and clean it, even though I tried

I finally just had to abandon the cause. Made me sick. I was pretty sure it was a cockerel, but I didn't care.

Cyndi, I'd say boy on your Wyandottes, but the shape of the first one makes me think that it could go either way. They are very lovely, in any event.

My black Wyandotte keeps waffling about being broody. Little poop. She camps out in the coop where the girls like to lay, steals their eggs, then sits on them for all of two days before deciding she wants to walk around for several hours. She's ruining all of my eggs. Grrrrrr. I've had two Wyandottes now that have tried to go broody, and I'm not impressed with either one of them.

Does anyone else have something good or funny or even just mundane to share? I'm trying really hard not to be a grouch with bad news. I'd rather make people laugh.

Here you go Red.. I think they used little chicks for the real peepping sounds.

This one is really cute... smile Red smile!

No clue who did it, it was in the run this afternoon, barely saw it sitting there. Because it was in the run, I thought, which new layers would I have out there? Usually the new layers put one in the run a few times before getting it right. Well, the only ones coming of age are 1, my showdude, who is 18 weeks old.....and 2. a marans mix from blujems, that is only 15 weeks old, and not very big yet. Hmmmm.....I will be watching little Mr Showdude, the comb still looks like it could go either way but it makes a definite crow-resembling sound about 2 times a day. After I FINALLY decide to keep a rooster wouldn't it be ironic if I get one of those rare crowing hens?

Rule #1: When you really really want a rooster you will not get one no matter what. Rule #2: If you are hoping for girls only in your hatch, you will get 80 percent boys every time. Or 90. :/

Blu-my SG eggs look to be developing nicely, but one whole batch has nearly all detached air cells. Yay.

Lisa, are you sure that showdude is really a dude? All though my silkies didn't start laying until 7 months old (then went broody at 8

X'2...ha, it would be funny Lisa..sometimes we just get it wrong.

I have two blacks from this hatch from sundance eggs, one brown and blue, one really pretty silvery color with smoky colors swirling through out the feathers, with some splash going on. I think it's a girl already! These all have feathered feet. One of the blacks came from a real pretty blue egg, and one from a OE color. The brown and blue from an OE color. The pretty light one from a pretty blue egg. I am keeping the light one and the black one from the blue eggs.
The little babies, one is black, and the teensy one is brown and blue. Tiny babies.

Do you all see what's happening in Utah today? In the 60's, no wind, no chill! Yaay! Spending some time outdoors for sure.

I think mine came from the same mama--a blue egg!------so I better keep her! Does this one look like it? Maybe they are sisters. Or mine will be the brother to yours lol
