Tried out some kale on the senoritas -- they were not impressed. So I'm going to make them pasta, cut the kale up, and toss it in. Pasta if their most favourite thing, so maybe I can get them to eat the kale that way. We'll see. They're so spoiled!

this heat has been horrible! got to be too much for one of my rabbits so she passed last night just could not keep her cool enough. i got a mister system at lowes. for $25 its a kit that gives you 10 feet or so of misting and its expandable to 50 feet. it has a drain valve and fasteners and a filter. its easy to put up and sure cools off a area. my girls love it. wish i had it sooner for my rabbit. i plan to expand the system in time.

This heat has been bad. I had to turn my hose attachment to FLAT spray and just leave it on the end of the runs. The chickens immediately came out of the coops and had bathes. Think they're learning that the spray is a good thing!!

Been out checking my girls constantly today. We crested at 111, but worry about when I'm at work and can't check on them till I get home.

Today has been an exciting day! I got my first batch of chicks. I'm very excited to watch them grow up into beautiful girls, and maybe a boy or 2. 1 dominique 3 leghorns 3 buff orpingtons 2 gold sex-links and 2 turkens. Cant be more excited.

I to had a loss today. My little Cotton is gone. She got stuck between the nest box and the back wall of the Silkie coop. I dont know if she was stuck or just couldn't see to turn around. I am so sad. I hope the eggs hatch for you Sundance cause it was her last clutch.

Cuteness alert! Had to share with my Utah peeps. I hope everyone is staying cool this weekend. These little ducklings have the right idea...although it looks like they need another low water pan. They are too small to get up into the larger one. Maybe some steps out of bricks would work.

So sorry to hear about your rabbit. Yes, the heat has been terrible. Have you ever tried freezing plastic bottles of water for them to lay against?

I tried the frozen bottle today with my broody FBCM, she just won't come out of that hot house...but every time I put the bottle by her she switched to another nest :/ She is being so stubborn, she has not come out to eat at all and won't touch the food I put in there for her. I have gotten her to take some sips of water but not nearly enough.

Sorry birdman about your rabbit, so sad! And Gary losing Cotton is awful She was so fluffy and pretty.! Sad news guys...hope there are no more losses.
