Is someone looking for Buff Orpington. A lady up the street is moving and not taking her chickens and ducks. The BO are 4 months old, probably from IFA or Cal Ranch. She also has 3 Muscovy ducks 2 yrs old. 1 Drake and to hens.

I'm baaaaack! I'm sorry, but I've been gone two weeks and there is no way I can catch up with all of your chatting. Can someone give a reader's digest of what I missed?

Lisa, someone posted that video to my facebook feed today. I was DYING.

One of my beautiful goth girls started laying while I was gone. She's a cross between a legbar mom and a fbcm dad. Look how gorgeous her egg is!



My babies are all MUCH MUCH bigger. I'm going to start integrating my legbars into the flock. I have 3 legbar cockerels that need to go, if anyone is interested in them. Also a gorgeous little white rooster that has feathered legs. Not sure breed- came from Sundancen's.

I got a text from a friend this week. She's the kindergarten teacher who took the seven babies that hatched in her class. From what I can see, at least 5 or 6 of the 7 babies are boys!!! Of course she lives in an area where she can't have any. I want to try and get her some HENS. So, if anyone has a few pullets that are close to point of lay that they'd be willing to give up, I'd love them.

So i just went out to candle my broodies eggs. One stunk, another was totally dark and I couldn't tell if it was just the egg shell that was too hard to see through or if there was a problem. The other three have nicely formed air sacks. I just left the dark one and the three under the hen and tossed the smelly one. This time next week they should be pipping! I'm excited to see them hopefully I'll get one little fluffy face out of the 4.

Spinx..welcome back..sounds like I need to go see some photos on your fb. You have to know, that I am loving that egg! I am waiting, I am waiting, for my Olive Egg..just that color..it looks like a nice smooth one too. I have a white girl that I hatched from Sundance's eggs..it was way blue, so hoping she lays a real blue one. She is a beautiful little pullet! Thinking a couple more months and she will be laying. I don't think she will get real big. Puffy cheeks.

What rescue do you run? A dog rescue? Or chickens...?
