Utah!

It was great to have Red here today helping me. I of course drug her out to visit the chickens. They were happy to see her as well

It was fun to visit with you guys! Thanks for having me over. Your poor little d'Uccle didn't know what to think of me picking her up, haha. And, I will have everyone know that I was subjected to being licked to death by a cute little doggie..........oh, the duress, I tell you ........

I, for one, am thrilled at the idea of a plant alternative to the egg. I have a couple nieces who have egg allergies. If I can make fantastic cakes with great texture and rise that AREN'T fatal to them, I'm super psyched. Of course, the only time I'd use the substitute is when I was cooking for them. I've tried many of the allergen friendly egg substitutes, and none of them have been just right. If they made the cake rise properly, there was a weird aftertaste. If they tasted ok (albeit a bit heavy and squishy), it didn't rise properly.

I agree if you had someone allergic to eggs it would be great. As long as it is all natural. I haven't come across that yet thank goodness.
I might have had a different reaction if I had a family member that couldn't eat eggs.
It just seems crazy to me to put so much money into it just because people consider it meat. That was my take on the article.

Thought you all might be interested....personally I think it is ridiculous.

I think this is actually a good thing. I have a nephew that is allergic to eggs. He is also allergic to nuts, poor litle guy. He is only 4 and has never had birthday cake. I have a zuchinni bread recipe that has beeen in the family for 3 generations and" my sister cant even make it due to the eggs. She tried to make it once without the walnuts but the eggs put the little guy in the ER. As for my family the all looked at the article and said " yuck!"

If anybody is coming out my way (Paul, ID), I have the following available: Wheaten ameraucana pullets, one pair of jubilee orpingtons, one blue orpington pullet, one golden cuckoo marans pullet (laying), bantam calico cochin cockerals, trio of bantam cochins, and wheaten and blue wheaten ameraucana cockerals.
Hey pawtrait! I have two wheaten am boys that don't have a girl to go with them. I am going to star valley wy the first weekend of October. Any chance we could meet in Pocatello that Sunday? How much are you asking for wheaten pullets? I can chicken train also if anyone needs me to :)

There are people that are allergic to eggs?!

That is so sad. So, am glad that there could be an alternative out there. I realize there are a lot of allergies, to a lot of different foods out there. Still, it's so sad. Eggs taste so yummy.

Had a nice surprise with my barnyard mixes. What a nice bow tie!

I tried to get a front view, this baby has a comb like a Wyondotte!

I heard my serama rooster crow for the first time today. I was almost on the ground laughing, it sounded like he was getting strangled. It looked like he was trying so hard to have a crow come out but what did come out was not loud whatsoever. I thought I'd share that it was pretty funny. My new and only layer laid her second egg this moring and it was a pretty good size and a really pretty olive color. So exciting when they start to lay
